I'm interested to know how many members have plans to buy the next generation MM (if?) when it comes out. I realize there are many variables as far as new features or improvements, but if the average quality was the same as this time, would you buy the next one? How about the first year?

Yup, I would buy it ... as long as it's not a super decontented 300C!

I love my full-size spare, remote gas door, and dash clock. They can leave the valve covers un-coated, ... since I'll just run out and get them powder coated anyway!

I don't know,I love this car so much I don't think the new cars will be this big and have RWD and V-8 power?

Only if it has more power and stays rear wheel drive.

I haven't even broken in our first Marauder. It's just getiing aclimated in the garage and waiting for its winter 'shoes'. Right now, I would have to say I would ONLY consider buying a new one in '05 or '06 if something unfortunate happened to our current MM.

Yes, I would buy the next generation
Marauder if it had a bigger V-8
and more "ponies"!
Gotta Love it!

The only reason i would buy a new marauder is if something really bad happened to mine, or they gave the car some insane engine i just couldnt live without.

Mine is a keeper. I'll have to wait and see what is in store for 2005. If it is similar to the current models I may purchase. Must be RWD.

I just bought mine, and I intend to keep it for the long haul - I'm very happy with it so far! So I'd only be interested in a new one if there was some major improvement. I'd like to get this one paid off before I sell it!

Depends on how Mercury markets its new Montery,Montego, and if the Messenger or a car based on it comes out. Then I might be in Mercury's for a long time if these new vehicles make it.

BlackHole, I thought I saw an article attaching the Montery name to a van (I must be wrong). What are these three going to be like?

BlackHole

The Montery is the Van that is replacing the Villager based on the Freestar. The Messenger could very well be the new Cougar, 2seats and possably DOHC 5.4. I'm diffenitly interested in this car Price I think well run low $30 to mid $45 grand but only Ford knows. The Montego is Mercurys version of Ford 500 which is finally replacing the less than stellar Taurus/Sabel twins
only 2 transmission choices a 6 speed thats right 6 speed auto
or a CVT first ever on a Ford car any where.  we finally get something the Europeans get first and only. the 500/Montego
should be out in late summer/Fall 2004.
The Montery should be around late this year early next.
Messenger is still only concept.:alone:

I'm interested in an 05 Cobra, a BMW M5 or a big supercharged AMG Benz as next ride, but only in addition to, not as a replacement for my current MM.

I was testing an M3 when the owner of our Ford dealer asked me to come in and at least test the MM. He was willing to do "what ever it took" to keep me in an American car. I went in drove it around town a bit with the salesman, but didn't really "try" it out. So we went through some number for my 1 ton and the price was definitely right in comparison. So the owner gave me the car for the weekend... This was a Thursday night, by Saturday I owned the car. I absolutely love this car!!! I honestly don't think I would have been as comfortable in the M3 for the amount of driving I do. Also, the room inside the cabin as well as the trunk!! Between kids and horses I can haul a bunch of stuff!! The only thing I would have liked to have is more power and a stick, but even without the stick I know I can add on the power.

Besides had I bought the M3 I would have never looked for this site and found a great group of people!!! One of the unmentioned options on the MM!

My prediction is that the Marauder will not be back in 2006 or thereafter. Mercury does not know how to sell and market performance cars. They tried and they goofed. Mine is a keeper for life because there will not be another car like it....

Hello all, yes I am a Newbie here; though I have loved the MM for a long time now. Don't have one yet... a CV right now.

I just had a simple question... has Mercury disclosed 100% when/if they are dropping the MM (hopefully never, but?).

bigjon - Welcome to the MM site the best on the net. The Marauder will be dropped from the line up after 2004.:(

I don't plan on getting rid of my Marauder unless some bad MOJO befalls me or it. I might replace my van with a Dodge Magnum Hemi wagon and a trailer though!!!!

Shhhhh....don't tell my wife.....

That is what I have heard. That sux. Well maybe they will surprise us with some good news once the competition heats up. I have always been a F/L/M guy, but it will be interesting to see what FLM does when the other brands release there RWD with some decent V8s. I would have to cry for joy if Ford ever decided to put the DOHC 4.6 into the CV and a SC DOHC 4.6 in the MM. That would be a beautiful sight! Though it will probably never happen.

If I must , it must be with a 5.7 Litre all aluminum 4-bolt main steel crank , forged piston and rods , heavy duty trans and heavy duty rear , 4:30 gears and a supercharger to top it off all from factory . :burnout: :burnout:

Looks like the North Jersey dealers have completely given up on the car. Even a large dealership out in Wayne, NJ has zero Marauders in stock.

Wayne Motors was one of the dealerships that displayed the traveling Marauder, and, at one time, had more than ten 2003s on the lot.

I guess they expect potential buyers to purchase without a test drive.

Won't happen.

Apparently I like the EXACT same cars Matt Johnson does! Well the '05 Cobra is gonna be to die for, but . . . And that C32 AMG I've been wanting sure is pretty (and fast), but . . . And of course who wouldn't love a new M5? But . . .

I'm pretty much up for the fastest four-door sedan with a V-8 and RWD under $35K that Ford can make in its next-generation Panther cars due out in '07.

If they make the MM when I'm "done" with this one, I'll probably order it. If not, I'll be looking.
I doubt if the 05 mustang will come in my size.

You Bet!
Just add a better drivers seat, more HP, and make it 4 wheel drive that would be the perfect car!
