First off, for those of you who have lost your cars due to the carelessness of others. I would like to say that I am very sorry. Dealing with a car accident is so much worse then most people think, the pain doesnt stop with the accident it only begins. I wish the best for all of you.
Now on to the question. I know the production number of my car as do many of us and we also have all heard (wheather from other members personaly, friends or just random internet searching) about the horrible accidents or have seen pictures and then someone is always able to get a VIN number and give us all info on the car. But what I want to know, is how many of the Marauders are left driving around. Dont expect an exact number, but would it be possible to get an estimate?

I'd guess about 1,327. Butt seriously, someone did make a chart with average loss over time, etc. etc., it was pretty interesting. Might find it via search function.

I searched for the same thing because I was curious to know. I remember that in the next 5-6 years there will be something like 1/2 gone.

I started a thread on this about 2 years ago (I think) and it was Charlie (bluerauder) who posted the chart.
I think it's around 8,000ish

Keep in mind that these cars are still high on the stolen cars list.
I think someone posted that the 04's are one of the top 3 most stolen cars in the country or something like that.
I'm sure someone will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope I'm wrong) :(

They were top 3 several years ago, but I think the reason they were so high on the list is because they may have based it on production against number stolen, which in turn yields a higher fraction than the average production vehicle would.

How many VIN's does RoylPITA have in his logs??? Just curious to see how many ACTUAL losses there are and can only imagine that at least double that number are gone... probably more

If someone can get me a list of all the VINs.... I know someone who can check nationally for titles. That should give a clear estimate.

The new Interociter 2 has the Fungenometer technology and will pull in the Guloxometer channel. Great for watching the Prius Games.

Here is your estimate .....

An estimate is closer to 7,588 remaining by '09 (5213 -- 2003 MMs and 2375 -- 2004 MMs).

In 2010, it will be down to around 6,829 total (4692 -- '03 MMs and 2137 -- '04 MMs).

Thanks for posting the chart "Bluerauder". So it looks like in the next 10 years we may very well have less then 500 ... I'll be honest when I started this thread I was expecting the numbers to be higher. Ok new goal in life, get a better job and buy a Geo Metro for daily driving, then I can just keep the Marauder hidden. Not saying I need a better job for a Metro, think the change in my pocket should be enough for one. Pretty crazy chart.

im gonna have to say that we add the "sweet hopties" with the lime green paint or lambo doors, or sweet 24 inch baller wheels be added to the "lost or totalled mm" list.

so knock another 900 MMs off the "surviving" list

Yeah, time will tell how low we go ... maybe the answer is 1000 .... maybe 1500. Who knows? I still think that we will be at 10% or less after 20 years. Think the chart is far-fetched. Post up your own chart and let us know your assumption.

30 years from now a local motorhead will be talking to his buddies about the blue Marauder hidden in a garage somewhere in Hampton, and they will say he is full of crap, and he will swear it's true, a friend of a friend knows the old retired Navy guy that owns it....

If a working El Camino (1983) does 375,000 without an engine change or transmission change and still works 24/7 then there should be many MM's around 20 years from now!;)

I would think that, although a great percentage of the population sees a car as four wheels that move and doesn't take care of their own, because there is a decent to substantial amount of MM owners that take extreme personal pride (to the point of love, like a family member almost) in their car, the numbers may reach a certain point and level out pretty steady, leaving the rest to survive save for something like act of God destruction, car wreck which totals it (like, beyond all hope totalled), or Ford disappears altogether and/or there are absolutely no more parts available for repair. I would figure the car wreck would be the most likely to take those cars away from us though.

They'll all be confiscated and crushed then made into a Government approved Green Car for the masses.

In China the model will resurface as the "WonHungLow Sport".
