I could have sworn I've seen a thread about this in the past, but I can't seem to find it by searching :shrug:

Over the past few weeks I've noticed adhesive residue leaking down from the small trim strip (similar to a door edge guard) that is on the top edge of the MM gauge pod onto the top of my gauges. Besides looking horrible it's a pain to keep cleaning up.

You can just barely see it in this picture, but for whatever reason it seems to be isolated directly above the gauges;

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so what was your solution?

At this point I'm thinking I'll pull the pod, remove the strip, remove any of the remaining adhesive, then re-secure the strip with silicone and touch-up/respray the pod if needed.

Thanks,
-Derek

Derek, that is actually common and you're correct that it's the adhesive used to secure the rubber trim. I have the issue in both my cars and I'm tired of cleaning it up as it keeps coming back...I've used both isopropyl and Goo-GoneŽ.

I have the same issue, seems they got a little generous with the adhesive.

Remove the gauge pod....remove the rubber trim strip....wipe glue (GOO) away with Isopropyl Alcohol....reinstall rubber without any glue.....reinstall gauge pod....open a cold beverage....take a BIG sip and admire your work!!:beer:

It is officially known as "gooey gauge". It is actually even on my OASIS report! CBT's gauges are gooey too...

after I used solvent, I tried rubbing the affected area.
The Goo comes off relatively easy.

I've been wondering what that was too...mine's been doing it for some time now. Actually thought it had something to do with my a/c problems at one time.
