General Shout Out ----

Calling all 9/10+ second MMs to the SSHS9 Shoot-Out at Atlanta Dragway, Commerce, GA on November 7th.

The Impala boys are ready smacking us down - see post :argue:

http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=227931&highlight=SSHS9

Need your help: Jerry and Marty for sure - and ALL 5-600 + HP MMs to attend and everyone else. I know we have many hi-powered Marauders ready to run: Merc, Doom, Glassman, Brian, Tom, etc, etc. This year will be a real blow-out. ALL heavy MMs are needed to CRUSH the Impalas. We also need participating MMs to win the 10 to 13 second classes.

This is the year we give it to them and take our trophies home. :banana2:

http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/images/icons/icon14.gif Many MM "Big Dogs" Comin - Get Ready !!!!!!
Many "Big Dog" Mercury Marauders will be attending SSHS9 including several 9 second runners and 600+ HP cars. It looks like all bracket classes as well as the "Big Dog" classes will go to the Marauders this year. Not to be a good year for Impalas.

A MM 10.2 pass at 134 MPH in 98 heat at AID. This is a solid 9 second car.

Hey guys due to the expense of building a 9 second legal car do you think it would be wise to have a 10 second class and then have a sub 10 class for the other cars. It would make racing more affordable and would increase participation. The Big Dog class was way down last year and I think that was due to the fact that everyone knew the Impala was untouchable!

We need to keep this fun and somewhat affordable for this event to survive. I would like to see a 10 second heads up class or use the index to set it up. What are your opinions?

Yeah, Buddy.
It's a thin herd when the BD class can go from 8 sec to 10 secs...... It becomes a "Why bother?" deal. The only hope you'd have is a breakdown or redlight to win.

It'd be like me trying to race Doom......to a plate of ribs.... no chance for the fat, bald white guy....

Glenn.... I nominate you for "Pot Stirrer of the Year".:P

NO rules - must weigh 4,000# as in previous years for classes A, B, and C and "Big Dog".

Right now the main goal is to generate interest and registrations. If "Mr. Norm" and other pot stirring helps in that area that's great. There are four 4,000# classes, "Big Dog" and then TT which is open to everyone.

Class A 14.00 and up Sponsored by

Class B 13.00 – 13.99 Sponsored by MercuryMarauder.net/ (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/)

Class C 12.00 – 12.99 Sponsored by RDRacing (http://www.r-d-racing.com/)

Class D 11.00 – 11.99 Sponsored by Injected Engineering (http://www.injectedengineering.com/)

Class BD (Big Dog) 10.99 or faster Sponsored by

* Class A, B, C, D will run .5 Second Tree. Class BD will run Pro Tree. Mandatory weigh-in after each race.

The issue is the NHRA rules that are enforced at this meet. You will have to meet the saftey rules based on your ETs. Other than that no rules. My point is that to run in the 8s or 9s is a lot of money. The NHRA rules require a lot more work and a drivers license. I do not believe that guys who have 10 second cars are willing to compete heads up with 8 second cars. The SSHS guys need to look at this if they want good participation. Its time to add another class at this event. I like watching the 8 second guys as much as anyone. I have a lot of respect for the Impala as it is a very well built car and the owner is a great guy! A heads up 10 second class would be a lot of fun and should draw a lot of cars. This is just my opinion guys!

You make a good case - it needs to be closely reviewed by SSHS.

Glenn

PS: Yes, all NHRA rules apply to any SSHS event.

Last time I was at the event with the GM they got me for no door handles. They will black flag your name for that. They did let me run after a while but said do not come back till the problem is corrected. This why I will bring the T Bolt Tribute car and do the run all day. Hope to take out a few Chevys and some Marauders with that. You listeneing Paul Casey?:)

You could also look into a Pro Tree Bracket, ala the old Mod Motor class at FFW.

Glenn, please post over on the Impala board that Mr. Norm's Challenger is NOT a tube chassis car, that it started life as a stock Challenger SRT. Thee front suspension has been changed out, but the chassis is stock. Also, it still has all the stock glass.

I'm not sure about the weight, they've done a lot of weight removal on the car.

A second heads-up class

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Paul. As has been mentioned, do you think there is any interest on the Mercury side for another heads-up, pro tree class. You all can determine the number e.g. 10.90. My point is that there alot of 10 second cars, be it naturally aspirated or otherwise that I think want to attend and be a part of this event, but obviously don't want to race exotic 8 or low 9 second cars heads up. Nor do they/we/I want to race 12 or 13 second cars in bracket race. If there is interest, we could add a purse and pay back a few places. I'd appreciate any feedback from your side that there may be, so please pass the word. Thanks, Mike

I agree that the time might be right for a 10 second class. How many people would commit with prepayment registration to the 10 second class? Get me a number, and I will take it forward to see if we can fit it in the schedule.

There's been some interest on the Impala board about this, so I posted up a thread to help get you an idea for ammount of players.
