View Full Version : Happy Marauder Owners?

My dad has his 03 Marauder now for one year. The car went back to the dealer for one thing: the driver's door window motor had to be replaced. Aside from this, he's had no problems. No engine ticks, no tire wear problems, no fogged headlight lenses, no paint problems... Has anyone else had a similarly happy first year?

I had the same problem, driver's window motor. Other than that, my MM has been good to me!

I've only had minor stuff. Driver seat squeak (fixed now) the popping of the rear end (still waiting on that) and the stupid lady who hit me (which wasn't minor!).

Other then that it still a GREAT car!

My 2004 is only a few weeks old now, but I couldn't be happier with the whole "new car experience". It's surely been one of my better "new car" experiences over the years.

The only thing I had was squeaky door seals, especially drivers door. Followed a suggestion I saw here to use Silicon spray on the seals and it worked. I am very happy.

I've had mine since June 2002. I have 8,000 miles and have not had a single problem. I am delighted!

Got mine 3-21-03. I have almost 12,000 miles on it. I love driving it every day. I had some minor things like the wiper didn't fold down all the way, a squeak in back door. I need to get it in to take care of a squeak in the front end.....possible bearings. Paint seems to be ok. Had to replace rear tire about 2,000 miles ago.......ran over some metal or something and put a gash in the tire. Overall I would have to say I love this car. It is the first car I have owned that was not General Motors. Would I buy it again.....YES!!

I have the squeaky seat as well, and I am getting a new track for that and a brand new driver's seat cover since one of the fasteners broke on mine.

Also have the driver's window motor problem, and a couple pieces of trim needed to be replaced.

All minor stuff - very happy overall.

Thanks,
-A

I've had my 2004 just four days now, and it's been great driving every day. I traded in a 2002 Grand Marquis LSE, which had the driver's window motor replaced once, and the front passenger window motor replaced two times. What is it with these motors?

2003 that is 11 months and 11,000 miles and NO PROBLEMS. paint depth (5 mil) all over but orange peel texture by the dog leg above the rear doors - no big deal - doesn't bother me. front tires are wearing great - inside as well as outside and centers. rears are wearing low - could be from the 1st - 2nd shift that breaks the tires loose alot. other items that weren't up to par - i replaced, see my sig below.

The only real problem I have is the left rear window run has a tear that will be addressed this coming week. Dealer ordered or received the wrong part to fix it last week.

I noticed that the connector for the left turn lamp (not the 'blinker' but the white light that comes on solid when the blinker is activated) has come undone from the wire casing but that is something I can address myself.

Of course as I read stuff on MM.net I become overly sensitive to the issue and really put my MM through the wringer. If I read more on the 'ticking' engine thread I'll hear the ticking with the engine turned off.

For what it's worth, I had read many years ago while studying call center management dynamics that people are 11 times more likely to report something negative as to take the time to report something positive.

When you guys say there were "motor" problems ... What specifically?

The reason I ask, I'm having an intermittent problem with my front passenger window. Twice now it has "frozen" and does not lower from closed position using either window button (drivers- or passenger-side)

First time was right as I was leaving for Ennis. (I kept that window up the entire time I was in Texas because I was afraid of driving so far if it got stuck when down.) The second time was last week.

The "freeze" has been fairly short-lived and with in a few minutes of driving it would work again normally.

Question ... Is this a symptom of a "failing motor" or just shoddy wiring. (Don't get me started on the on again, off again light in the trunk!)

Owned my 2003 300A since July 31 and have 2500 miles on it, mostly highway trips. Had the factory reflash of the PCM which improved shifting but that's it! Averaging 24 mpg highway and I really enjoy driving it. Great car!

Still amazed at how many people - even "car guys" - have never heard about the MM! Maybe Mercury would sell more if they advertised it?

Ford - are you listening?

Gentlemen,
Today, marks one full week of fun with my maroon Marauder. I am quite "picky" about everything in general, and happily, I cannot find one miniscule issue that needs attention.
Best car to date since my '89 Mark VII.
It may be an "over-exaggeration", but a ten minute drive anywhere seems like a mini-vacation.

I have owned my MM for about 4 months and have nearly 12,000 miles on it. No problems on anything. I consistently get 20-22 MPG on the highway in Atlanta going to work 100 miles a day. I do not have a light foot. I second shift chrip several times a day. The car is great I love it. It handles extremely well for a big car. I have never, never seen another MM on the roads in Atlanta except for meeting some owners at Team Ford one day. It is constantly being noticed when I stop for gas or go to the stores. It is the best car I have ever owned.

I haven't heard of anyone yet who's got more miles on their MM than me. But even that doesn't make me an expert and hasn't exposed me to every potential problem. I've come to depend on the info posted on this site as the best knowledge source. It seems to me that FOMOCO did not disperse much info on this car to the individual dealers (possibly because of the limited production run) which in turn has lead to problems getting customers' issues resolved. And with the shear strength of numbers (MMNet members), I'll now come here first with an issue before I go to one dealer. To me, the relative ease of vehicle upkeep is what makes for a happy owner.
What I like most about the MM is what I call the head-turning ratio. Of all the muscle cars I've owned, this one has turned at least 50 times more heads than any previous.

Oh Yeah!! I just registered 500 miles. I really enjoy this car. I've only seen two other marauders in Miami, and one was an unmarked Highway Patrol vehicle (that guy has nice benefits).

I'll hit 1 year and 40K miles next Tuesday. only real troubles have been the radio, which will be fixed tomorrow, and that first set of tires, which seems okay now that I run 2004 pressures. I get 23 mpg pretty consistent (can make 27.5+ happen on the highway, I've done it twice now and will do it again Saturday, just to show off to my wife), seem to be able to pass most anything, and ride in comfort. Only other problem is the pain in my jaw from the constant grin!!

MitchB, 2004 tire pressures were bumped to 35/35 psi, strictly for CAFE/gas guzzler tax reasons.

Just rolled over 1100 miles today.
Averaging 18-19 mpg city, 23-24 mpg hiway @ 75/hr.
Better fuel economy than my ' 02 CV Sport !
Engine seems more quiet at idle, yet more responsive in performance compared to day one.
Miles, and Smiles, per gallon surpasses expectations.
