If the light comes on the code will be stored in the PCM until 80 drive cycles with out the problem being seen again unless the battery is unplugged. So you should be able to take it to the dealer. Some things will have to be tested when the problem is present to properly diagnoses. I'm guessing that if you haven't noticed any problems you will have a intermittent code for the torque converter slip greater than expected.

As I told you before, you still have a factory warranty so take it to the deraler and have it looked at.
You have barely had the car a month. Stop wasting time and get it looked at.

Translation = Sometimes when I drive my car the OD warning light flashes. I haven't owned the car that long but my father says if the OD warning light isn't flashing the dealership cant diagnoses the problem and I will be charged a $198.00 diagnosis fee. Unless it covered under my powertrain warranty. I was going to wait until the OD warning light is flashing and then go to the dealership. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Not to bad of a Ebonics translation for a white boy from a redneck town, What do I win FordNut?:D

Thank you. I have a hard time with the whole "press 1 for English" thing.

Have somebody with a tuner (xcal) hook up to it and check for any codes. Some codes can be read by the aftermarket devices, others require the Ford code reader. They may be able to read it at AutoZone too. The code should be stored in memory even if the light isn't currently flashing.

Why would you even ASK if you should 'get it looked at'?
The day my "Service Engine" light came on on my Grand Marquis I took it somewhere to get the code read (You do know that some parts stores will do a free computer check, right?) Take it to Auto Zone and ask them to do a computer check... it's a little box that plugs into your OBD II port... takes about 45 seconds.

Rule of thumb with cars:
"IF THE DUMMY LIGHT COMES ON, GET IT LOOKED AT, DUMMY!"

ESPECIALLY if it's something powertrain/braking related... Hate to think of driving down the road and having the transmission decide it wants to die.

Also, for the love of pete, not to sound like a jerk; but if you can't type like a normal person, don't type at all, please... I know this isn't "MY PLACE", but if you're going to communicate with normal human beings, and ask normal human beings their advice - well, I think you get the point

Code reader can read the trans codes, take to Ford dealer. Have them read codes. Or read them yourself

Another suggestion: drop pan, clean pan, new filter, 10-12 quarts of Mercon V. Try that and hope for the best -- Since you won't take it back to the dealer, which is likely a used car lot guy - not a dealer.

A decent reman tranny is around $1800.00

Good luck.

Had the same thing happen to mine. This was the diagnosis........

TFT Sensor faulty, TRNS not overheating, TFT open circuit found in bulkhead harness in trans and lead frame TFT harness connection faulty, Removed valve body to replace bulkhead harness, reinstall vbody and replace lead frame harness. Refill w/Mercon.

Translation= Transmission fluid temperature sensor was faulty and they had to remove the valve body to replace bulkead and sensor. $456.50 later, I was good to go. :mad2::censor:

Transmission shifter position sensor out of adjustment. Loosen and retighten. Light should quit blinking upon restart.
