i was just wondering what you guys feel are the safe levels of boost for a stock motor. was gona use a 3.1 upper with a +4 lb lower as this is what Zack runs with his eaton. how ever i know Zack likes to live on the edge and i can not afford to do that. looking to make 400ish hp.

thanks

3.0 upper is all you'd need for 400 and a bit more.

so i should go with a stock lower?

If you are trying to be over 400 and safer with a stock bottom end, yes, a 3.0 will be the answer.
Doom, Defyant, Cheesheadbob, me, Nate and many others run 3.0's no lowers..... and all make over 400 rwhp.

It can also be done with a 3.2 pulley, 431hp & 416ftlbs tq .With stock lower pulley. FWIW

Would that give you more than 11psi?

ImpalaSlayer

Zacks makes about 12psi. his is on a stock motor and makes about 450.

At 12lbs of boost, and 450rwhp you should be ok for a while on the stock internals. It all depends on who does your tuning, and how badly you abuse the car.

How often to you race it? What gears are you running?

How maney miles do you have on the motor ?

yeah alota people have run this number with good luck for a while. my luck ittl blow on the first pull

i dont really race the car much, just ususaly go to see what it will do after i change something. also im running 4.10s.

as soon as i get the money, i wana put a cobra motor in it (shoulda never sold the one i had:mad:). i may drop it in as a unit. i havent decided fully yet.

Wow only 53000 miles. It will be a sweet build when done.
Did you ever get a chance to put a parts list together ?

Nice!!! Is that on the Twin Screw?? Thats what I dynoed at back in May with the 2.8" pulley on the Eaton. Went back to tweak and adjust the tune just a bit, and picked up a great average all the way through the pull. Hit 483 RWHP after it was all said and done. Don't think I'll push any further than that though.

If you go with that much boost. Put some oil seperators on it. I think that may be what eats these motors up. Quite a bit of oil sitting in the intakes when I take em apart.

Get some oil in a cylinder to lower the octane and kablammo!

Pardon the question.... but..

One of these? (http://www.lnsauto.com/articles/ford_truck_performance_2005100 1/ford_truck_performance_2005100 1_pics.shtml) Is that what you mean by Oil Separators?

Why do you say a little oil lowers octane??

It's actually quite the opposite to a point!!

Yep, TS, I left it at that as it was a "safe" tune, the power actually never went down, I imagine it would peak around 7k. It definatley sucks the air.

I made over 400rwhp with a 3.2 pulley and made it into the 11's....Now with my 3.0 and a few other mods and upgraded fuel system im running 457rwhp and 432rwtq on 12psi. I also have a race tune set for 104 race fuel probably pick up another 15-20rwhp with that. But I will only run that tune at the track on pure 104 race fuel.

Davi I'm running the 3.0 pulley and making 457rwhp & 463rwtq
you can get about 400 with the 3.4 - 3.2 pulley.
What happened to N/A 12's???
