Okay hate to reveal a project before it is done but I need some advice guys.

First off these are the base colors that are going to happen no matter what.

Metalic Silver Intake Plenum

Metalic Gold Intake Manifold

Metalic Gold Cam Covers / Valve Covers

But I have an intake spacer that I will be adding and I plan to make the spacer and the fuel rails match in color seeing it will all be torn appart.

So here are the 2 choices of colors.

Anodize Purple 16907

or

Anodize Blue 16908

To remind you again this is going inbetween Gold and Silver metalic colors
as well as running along side the Intake Manifold and Cam covers with Colex Polished Aluminum Coil Covers on top.

And yes when it is all done will be showing plenty of pictures when all is said and done.

So what say you guys which would look best the Purple or the Blue inbetween the gold and silver?

Thanks ahead of time for your help.

I also went with Silver Rotor's and Gold Calipers for the brake's along with the braided brake line's so wanted to color coordinate The Engine and Brake's on the car for a unique look that would look good at car shows. Plus I have the Ceramic Silver Coated long tube headers as most already know.

Silver and gold motor, that should be something

Figured it would look good seeing what I have going on at the Wheel level having it all match and havn't seen anyone else doing this color combo on their engine's for these cars.

I did see a guy that used the Burnt Copper and Silver combo on his Chevy at a car show and also had the same combo for his Brake's and Wheels and it looked awsome.

But did not want to copy his set up so went with the Gold Flake instead.

IMO, With silver and gold I don't think the blue or the purple will look good in between. You may want to polish the spacer or make it gold to match.

Ok...so you are not actually 'anodizing' anything...you are 'rattle canning' them.

I was going to suggest upon my misconception of your thread title that you NOT anodize being you live up north and potentially may drive in salty conditions.

Since you are painting...I don't care. Paint them pink lol!:D

IMHO, I think it is already too many colors, don't add any more. (you asked)

Actualy the rattle can thing you are talking about is complicated it is a 4 part process that create's the effect. And there is a clear high gloss finish coat that never needs to be polished just rinse it off with water to clean.

Black and blue with silver / Yellow and black with silver / Purple and black with pink and silver

So I don't think what I am doing is too off beat. And what better way to protect an all aluminum engine on the outside than to coat it powder coat or anything else.

I have seen the end result of a lot of aluminum parts on customers cars over the years of seeing the eliments. Even in the Spring time there is so much salt and what not left on the road that gets splashed up into the engine bay from puddles and wet roads.

The high performance fuel rails are usualy red or blue Aluminum and guys build engines using the aluminum hose conectors that are red and blue with the silver braided line's. Not much differnt when you think about it what I would like to do.

Yellow and black with silver

:coolman:

I was once told by car show judges to pick no more than three colors for your engine bay.

Whatever colors you choose, post up pics of the results.

You could do a complete rainbow effect.

On cars that still rub carburators with external fuel bowls there is a Purple aluminum plate that goes between the carb and the fuel bowls along with a fe internal changes to run it.

So I have seen race cars with a Gold carb and this purple plate on each side of them like on the Holly's.

Also saw this on the Edelbrock cars which is actualy in the old days a Carter Quad now they are bright silver and or chromed and also end up with the purple plate running between the main body and the fuel bowls.

A lot of race car builders and or Street muscle car builders Like to color code certain things they add to the engine so it stands out and gets noticed.

Not looking to make it something wild and crazy just some things that stand out above the rest and yet fit's with the color's I am going with.

Here is examples of what manufactures do and you see on performance cars.

One guy on here said why am I bothering tp polish the new headers when the engine looked like **** basicly just not in those words. Here I am putting in a rear head coolant flow kit in have it all appart and a great opertunity to do all of this with a double purpose to dress it up and I am still getting ****. Can't win with you guys I guess.

Just don't have a handle on what would look best for what I am doing so asked all of you for advice as fellow Marauder owners. And don;t have the cash to go out and buy double of everything to test it all out.

Go with the blue.

The Blue is you.

Can you hear the BLUE calling out to you?

Blue wants you.

I think there is a pretty huge difference between accent colour on engine parts and those colours together on large portions of the motor... but that's just me

Rules to painting car engines, what else is coming?

Why not get a Royal Purple sponsorship and paint the entire engine different shades of purple?

I have a better Idea but it is what I would do not what you should do.

Unfortunatly what it would cost is not fesable for me to do something like that nor powder coating right now. Takes time to build up cash and I don't have credit cards. Plus during the nice weather months this is my only car to use like every year since I bought her in 2004. Nice looking engine bay though no doubt about that. But if all goes well there should be plenty of bling.

Blue Anodize it is from the guys that voted. I will post pictures when it is all done good or bad LOL!! Will be Ordering everything on Monday.

Already ported the intake on the heads as well as the intake manifold seeing it is appart figured it would be worth doing it to increase flow and less restrictions.

It was the same thing I did to the Exhaust side of the heads before I put on the Headers to increase flow there and decrease restrictions.

Kind of an old school method we always use to use when my Dad and I built race cars but it does make a difference.

A good air grinder with a dremmel end on it and finish it with stone's and sand paper rolls to make all the ports as smooth as possable with little to no burs to get in the way of fuel and air.

For those of you that don't know how to do this you put the gasket in place over the Head and or Intake where it will sit and line up with the bolt holes then use a permenant marker and mark the port holes with it on the inside of the gasket so that when you remove the gasket you can see how much material needs to be removed from each port to perfectly line up with the openings of the gasket.

The increase in horse power and torque is not big but there is a difference none the less and the engine runs smoother.

Wish me luck on the engine dress up prject.
