I'm curious as to how everyone feels about putting underbody neons on the MM? Also, how does everyone feel about other neons inside and police strobe lighting?
Another question, I'm curious as to who has done a custom stereo with aftermarket subs and radio head units? If you have any picks, that would be greatly appreciated, and so would any information of how you set it up and how you wired it. Also, how hard was it and how long did it take? (FYI, I do have some knowledge in electrical wiring and sound set up) Thanks in advanced.

As soon as I get my grille back from Zack, you all will see the first MM on this site to have a bit of neon on it!

XxColdAzFireXx - Welcome to the Marauder site. Neon lighting is not for the Marauder but the strobe lights are a possibility. Many members of this board upgraded their speakers and some have changed the radio and amp.
LML,
DON'T YOU DARE DEFILE THAT CAR!!!!:argue::puke:
I will pay the airfare to have a "neon removal task force" come down there and pay you a visit.:mad2:
Next you will start wearing pants 4 sizes too big and wearing caps and hats turned backwards......
For shame, for shame.............
"Neon"??!!
:down::down::down:
Whatever makes you happy. Hell it's your car you can paint it bright pink if you want.

Well... I already wear my hat backwards, so...
LOL, no, Sam would kill me if I turned into a rice boy, much less riced out her favorite car. This actually was kinda her idea. I thought about it, then seen it done to a 1939 Ford. The Ford had the neon around the bottom of the car though too. Too much for me... But I told Sam about it and she HAD to see this done to Emma. It's a black light neon tube (essentially purple, her favorite color) mounted to the upper portion in behind the grille. This will be the only neon that goes on the car. It's on a nice push button switch so it can go off or on when I want it. I'll probably only use it when I'm cruising in a bunch, or at car shows. I think it'll make an awesome addition to the badgless grille! Just wait and see before you all decide...

Is it possible to put in a custom radio and still have the steering wheel controls work?

Hell, just wait'll y'all see my new Whelen LED lightbar and ProGard push bumpers . . . They're gonna go great with my new Antenex antenna farm on the trunk. I'm gonna post like a billion pictures of it on BON so SHERIFF can see the beauty of it all!
Do whatever the heck you want to your Marauder, XxColdAzFireXx! It's YOUR toy! What color neon?

Marauder57, the steering wheel controls will work, but you have to buy an adapter kit, which unfortunately, is about $70 @ Crutchfield.
In regards to NBC Shooter, i was thinking about doing green neons, I'm also considering doing green and white police strobes (like the dash and deck strobes)

neons are not only done to rice cars, i've seen them on a jacked up, redneck, rebel flag baring, 44" tires, pick up truck and on classic impalas. Unfortnately, ricers have come along and screwed a perfectly good looking and cheap modification.

We have one here with blue neon and suprisingly it looks good. I wasn't for it a first but after I saw it I liked it.

Red neon and yellow will be under the hood of mine next year, no fenderwells and the hole in the hood should make it look like it is really on fire!

Please forgive me for asking, but I did a search and can't find any specifics and I'm waiting for Crutchfield to get back to me.
Regarding the adapter kit for an aftermarket radio that will allow use of the steering wheel buttons...does anybody have a part number or exact name of the kit? I have an Alpine 9815 and I'd like to use the steering wheel buttons. Back when it was installed there was nothing available.
Thanks in advance!

Yes.
I recently completed this upgrade to my MM, to install my Pioneer InDash DVD player. However, the unit you are adding to your MM must have IR capability, i.e. control by a hand held remote.
The steering wheel controls are addressed by Crutchfield P/N 127SWIX @ 69.99. What happens here, is your hard wired controls are routed to a programmable IR transmitter that can talk to any in-car toy that also has a wireless remote. XM tuner, tape deck, CD changer, DVD, and so on, anything that has IR capability. Once your steering wheel keys are reprogrammed, you can control any IR driven device, including some garage door openers.
Word of warning, if you have the OEM CD changer in the trunk, it is unlikely that this changer will hook up with an aftermarket head unit. Mine did not and I had to change out my OEM changer for a Pioneer unit, but it wasn't that expensive to do so either.
