Hi Everyone,
For the past couple of years my town (Chicago Heights) has been putting on a car show and burnout contest sponsored by the Mayor.
The police/fire dept. actually close down a main road by our local Bloom High School and let all kinds of cars do exhibition runs as well as hold a burn out contest. On top of that they also have a car show as well as a normal festival with food tents/beer/carnival rides/music, etc. I went last year and they had approximately 420 cars show up for the car show alone with alot of them participating in exhibition runs. Any car can do an exhibition runs as long as they pay the $15 entrance fee -(which includes your entrance into the car show also), register there car, have a valid drivers license and insurance card and are not drinking alcohol (due to the beer tent being on the premises).
Last year the reigning champion of the Burnouts was a gentlemen named Cobra Dude and he won with his' 95' Ford Cobra.
I passed out some flyers at the Lassen's get together but below is the rest of the information:
1. Car Fest at the Heights- Chicago Heights at Bloom High School -101 W 10th Street, Chicago Heights, IL 60411
2. Sept. 5th -Saturday Labor Day Weekend
3. Cost- $15 for cars to register for both the car show and/or Burnouts.
4. All activitied supervised by the Chicago Heights Police/Fire departmnets
5. Time- 12:00 Noon- to 2:00 PM- Car show registration -Cars must register by 2pm to be in the car show.
1:30 PM-3:00 PM- First session of burnouts and holeshots
3:00 PM- Car show awards/presentations-trailer queens can leave after this -:D
4:00 PM-6:00 PM- Last session of Burnouts and Holeshots
I am currently friends with the promoters of this event (even the mayor-imagine that ):banana2:and I will be able to obtain a Marauder only parking spots/sections to anyone who would like to go together in a group. I would suggest we meet together as a group around 10-10:30 on Halsted street and then I can lead everyone to the parking area and we can get set-up.
If you are interested in going please advise so I can get a list together so I can reserve the space for us.
Also, he who cannot be named (hey-just like the Harry Potter Movie!) and starts with a Z -mentioned to me that he would probably bring out the Whipple Supercharged monster that he is getting tuned at Kurgan's today and would probably make a couple of runs.
This is a crazy fun family event as they have alot of really neat cars including dragsters, willys funny cars, etc....and you get to see them blast down the road! Let's get this list going and let me know if you are interested. I will have to cut-it off on Thursday -9/3 as I have to tell them by then how many cars will be coming.
Can't wait to see you their. Here is the start of the list:
1. 1 Bad Merc
2. He who cannot be named -Z
3. UAW 588
4. Baadgn
5.
