well as many know im putting an eaton on the car. i was wondering if my current 3500 stall would be too much. should i put the stock tc back in? or should i have the one i have now re built to a lower stall. if the motor is gona be out i may as well do it then if it should be done.

I would definitely go to a lower rpm stall with an Eaton S/C.
You will get better around town drivability and still have a great 60 ft time at the track because of all the S/C's low-end torque.

would the stocker be up for the task at say 500hp?

I would say Yes.
IIRC; Lidio ran 11s in his Trilogy Marauder with just about everything being stock...
including the exhaust.

Copied from an older thread.....Per Sgt Mac's research;

Gran Marquis with 4.6L 2V SOHC engine...Minimum stall 2094 RPM, maximum stall 2440 RPM.

CV/PI with 4.6L 2V SOHC engine...Minumum 2319 RPM stall, maximum 2750 RPM stall.

Marauder with 4.6L 4V DOHC engine...Minimum 2555 RPM stall, maximum 3011 stall.

So it looks like the OEM Marauder TC is in the 2700-2800 rpm range.

I have a 3200 stall TC with a Trilogy S/C. Some guys like John Nero, MarauderTJA etc have higher stalls. They Both have Prochargers S/C and a higher stall is better for their app. Trilogy S/C don't really need a higher stall TC in my opionion.

guess i came too late i was also interested on the 3500 stall. but yes like they said you will gain driveability with the stocker if yours is an '04 is 2800 stall on '03 is 2200 stall.

Call the guys at www.converter.com/ They will tell you all you need to know.

If you choose to use the stock converter then you will need to get a tune from Lidio where he leaves the converter unlocked. That is the only way the stocker will survive. You will leave some performance on the table that way and build up a lot of transmission heat, but it will last.

Darrin, how much does it usualy cost to re stall one?

Usually costs around the $300 mark from what I have seen if you are not the original purchaser. If you are the original purchaser on the PI converters they usually do at least one re-stall for free as long as the converter doesn't need to be rebuilt.
