Does anyone have experiance installing mach1 or cobra long tubes on mm? if so, what fabricating was needed? (egr tube, steering shaft, m/monts etc......)
Why would you want to use Mach 1 or Cobra when you can get the ones that fit?

Embassy is the only person I know of who has done this, hopefully he will chime in. The only advantage I can see is if they are significantly cheaper than the MM specific Kooks or SW headers.

hmmmm...significantly cheaper sounds significant to me....If the quality, performance and the materials is pretty close then saving a bunch of money makes sense...I'd like to hear more on this

If you are going long tube and don't want huge primaries you might as well get the Marauder ones. Good Mach 1 stainless long tubes ARE NOT a lot cheaper than the ones for the Marauder by SW.

Well I wouldn't say all that, the Mach 1s fit, and you can get them in bigger primaries and there is no huge amount of work needed. Gonna need to shave the steering shaft, but I've seen a number of people post having to do that to the SW and kooks too.
I went with Mach 1 headers so I could get big primaries, my plan was to move the tq curve over out of the low end. It sort of worked but hp/tq increase was so large overall 1st gear is still a spin fest :burnout:

there are alot more choices in headers if we could tap into mach1 or cobra headers. do the sw or kooks have an egr hook up? what about collector size, 21/2 or 3"? bbk makes some nice headers @ reasonable price! i'm just trying to explore options.

I can see where the larger primaries would pay off for someone making your type of power. For me in my current N/A mode there would be a small benefit but probably not anything huge until I decided to get boosted w/ a built motor. Then I would have to worry about shifting the TQ curve right. This is more of a question than statement.
Now what about the passenger side header, did you have any clearance issues or was this pretty much a straight install such as the Kooks or SWs? Any issues w/the starter clearance?

Problem with non stainless headers is your car better be a weekend only deal

passenger side is a non issue, all troubles are on the driver's side.
And yes unless you have something special in mind that you want to accomplish with the length of the header, size of the primary tubes etc. All stainless headers are expensive, so it's not really worth the trouble in my mind. Or I guess if you really want to go for a non stainless set... :o
For me, I like to experiment, almost everything on my car is an experiment, so it seemed right to keep on that path.

Thanks RR, this was just me being curious jumping in on someone else's thread. I already have the Kooks for the MM and will be getting them repaired next week. I was just wondering about other possible solutions besides the MM standard offerings. I will only use SS for my exhaust and will be changing out the crappy aluminized X-Pipe for a stainless H-pipe.
