Yesterday I put my hands on a new offering(in the sizes that fit) for a matched set of tires from Nitto. The prices are good, fronts are around $150(235/50/18), and the rears around $175(255/55/18). They have a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty. Are considered an Touring all season tire, and have a softer tire compound, which could really help out with people who actually drive their Marauder's in the snow. The tread pattern seems very versatile providing good traction in rain, snow, and on dry pavement. And they are also claiming the tire to be very Quiet. If money wasn't tight right now they would have already been mounted and and had a 2 hr test drive by me.
The tires are being exclusivley distributed by American Tire Distributors. Service/tire shops that sell this tire can be found on the Nitto page below, on the "find a dealer" tab.

The website(the tire is not listed on Nitto's home page) is www.nt850.com (http://www.nt850.com)

I searched on this site for info on this tire and didn't find any. If this is a repost be easy on me:beer:.

That's got to be loads better then the BFG stockers.

For close to same price as the stockers I would think so.

Thanks for sharing that info. I know others have been going to Good Year in hopes of having a matching set, but this seems like a better alternative.

If my tires weren't new, these would be on order.

Strange that they are not on the Nitto Web Site.

Do you thing they are rebranded?

Not rebranded but Nitto will make special runs for tire distributors if the volume is large enough.
That's where Tire Distrubutors came up with my Nitto redwall tires.
I love them but they won't make any more because apparently nobody else liked them!

No I don't believe they are rebanded. My brother is a regional sales manager for American Tire Distributors. He said that Nitto and ATD worked on this tire to provide a premium quality tire at a reasonable price.

And he also said the reason they are not on their site(Nitto's) Is that they are again exclusivley distibuted/marketed by ATD.

I am getting a set of these on Monday. I'll report back after stretching the Black Beast's legs a bit.

I ordered a set of these today. I'm going to try the 235/55s on the front with the 255/55s on the back. They had to order but said they would be tomorrow or the next day.

Many thanks for posting about the tire. It was designed as a replacement for vehicles where tire wear was a problem. It will be interesting to see.

I'm curious to know how stiff the sidewall is. The stock BFG's have a very stiff sidewall which translates to much better steering response.

I'm betting they have more sidewall flex than the stockers...

Everything has more sidewall flex than a KDWs. Except maybe concrete. Even then...

Have had these a little while now and like them a lot. Quiet, with excellent traction on a purely stock MM. Worked well in the rain and dry. Total for four balanced and installed was just under $700, cheaper than the OEMs at Costco.

I have the TOYO PROXIES 255/50/18 ans 255/55/18.. the stager is good. But they make alot of noise when cornering and spining.. I remember the stockers did not do that.. It makes it hard not to be noticed. The wear is way better than I would have expected.. I want to change them for something that will not make so much noise..

I had Toyo on the rear, good wear but poor traction was my experience.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I couldn't find any other threads with info about this tire. I am quite curious to know how people liked these tires. I came across the NT850 quite by accident and I really like the description - all season + high treadlife. Exactly what I'm looking for.

The NT 555 Extreme Performance was what I had originally planned to buy for my fronts. (I already have the 420S on the rears and my BFGs are starting to wear), but i had reservations about buying Xtreme performance b/c my Marauder is a daily driver and I do (on occasion) see rain, snow, sleet, ice. etc...

So if you have the NT850 on the front, how did you like it?

I have the NT850s front and rear on my daily driver MM and I am very satisfied with them. They have excellent wet and dry traction for daily use and so far are holding up well. I went slightly oversize front and rear with no traction control problems. Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for your response! How many miles so far have you driven on the NT850s?

Great pics and thanks for the link! I guess when I was searching I put in "NT850" rather than "850". Apologies for missing your thread, but I like what I see.

Think I'll go ahead and purchase the NT850 235/50 for my front. My NT 420s are still in great shape!

Thanks Juice

I have about 12K on the NT850s with no problem. Sorry, I forgot to check my sizes, if I remember I'll check tonight when the car is in the garage. Bob

Did you get a chance to verify the sizes? I'm very interested to know.

You mentioned earlier in this thread you were going with/went with 235/55/18 + 255/55/18. Is that correct? That makes for a (static) rear tire size 3.07% larger than the front. And you said that the sizes you have did not give you any traction control problems?

One member complained that the combination of 235/50/18 + 255/50/18 did give traction control problems. That combination yields a 2.89% greater rear tire size. Close to 3%, but apparently not close enough.

It seems that 3% really is the minimum rear tire size to work with traction control - if you could verify the sizes you're using...

The reason I want to know about this particular size combination is that I just discovered that Nokian has an XL W-speed rated tire in these sizes: the Nokian Z SUV.
I like my Nokian winter tires, and if someone could verify that 235/55/18 + 255/55/18 works with traction control, I may have found a winner for the summer.

Sorry, but I have not been back to this site for a while. I have the NT850s in 235/55 R18 on the front and 255/55 R 18 on the rear with no TC issues or clearance problems. Rears still wear faster but better than the OEMs. Tried a set of Toyo SUV tires and they were too slick, rear end kicked out too quickly. These are fine for my driving, daily driver no track time.

I'm gonna check with Discount Tire or Belle and see about these.
I can't imagine any tire wearing faster that the BFG's.

I have 235/50 18 NT 850 in the front
255/55 18 NT420s in the rear. No issue at all

Will this rear tire size work with the 2004 marauder traction control?

Because stock is 245/55/18.....NOT.....255/55/18

Will this rear tire size work with the 2004 marauder traction control?

Yes, I calculated the size carefully. With the fronts Listed I have absolutely no problems.
