It sounds like a possible supply and demand issue.

i have Kuhmo, and they are working great. They run smooth, quiet, and you cannot beat the price.

Thank God I don't wear those fronts out.
I just started my second set 40k or so and that was over a year ago.
Fortunately they still look new.
Kudos to a good CLAUDE alignment and MM.NET!

The front size is OEM tire on the 18" Mustang wheels, I think that's why the price jumped.

I have had 255/55/18 Kuhmo Solus on the rears. They are the touring version of their performance tire (same specs )--original tread depth is 10/32nds--35 psi--5000 miles wear less than 1/32nd --- even across the whole tread--wet traction MUCH better than the OEMs --- sidewalls hold well in turns--cost at Discount Tire was about $125/tire. The tread almost matches the OEM, so no harmonics. I am very satisfied with these tires and will use them in the future. Oh yes, they do a great burnout:burnout: Maury

That is ridiculous. I bought a pair of fronts around April/May of this year and I payed $91 each with free shipping from Discount Tire Direct.
A 150+% price increase?

I had Kuhmo on another car and they seemed to be good tires. They were quiet.

91 divided by 169 = 54% increase
150 % increase would be 227 dollars
91 +91 + 45.50
The inflation rate reflects half of the increase. Fear, lost sales revenue, and of course opportunity reflects the rest.
Many suppliers are just making up higher numbers. Simply because their bookeeping is fast and loose. They dont know what to charge they are just guessing.

91 divided by 169 = 54% increase
Come on guys .... this is basic math. 4th Grade stuff.
A 54% increase over $91.00 would be $49.14 (i.e. $91.00 * .54). The new price would be $91.00 + $49.14 = $140.14 not $169.00. Not even close.
The $169.00 is $78.00 more than $91.00. That's an 85.7% increase over $91.00. Figure it as 78/91 = 0.857 or 85.7%.
Or you can get there by 169/91 = 1.857. Of course you have to subtract 100% of the original cost. So, it is 1.857 - 1.000 = .857 or 85.7%.
Or another way to view it is (169-91)/91) = 78/91 = 0.857 or 85.7%

If you walk into the store today and see your tires marked at 169 dollars...
On sale today...54 % off.... How much would you pay?
$91.26

You're confusing discounting with mark-up.
If you discount a $169 item 54% it will cost $91.26.
However, if an item that used to sell for $91.26 now sells for $169, you're looking at an increase (mark-up) of 85.2% over the original price.
$91.26 x 85.2% = $77.74
$ 91.26 (Original price: 100%)
77.74 (Mark-up: 85.2%)
$169.00
$91.26 x 1.852 = $169.

Jeez people. I was just trying to state the price I payed for a set not 6 months ago.
I was just saying that the price was about 150% of what I payed. I wasn't trying to be accurate, just painting a picture.
Must be a slow day on MM.net

Zanex works for me, you will find that the internet is so easily misread, you just have to take a deep breath, this is a very good site we have totally different crowd, but our love for the car stays the same, so please just ignore it, no one was attacking you, it is just another example of the economy, as I said weeks ago the GT pump just went up 50% the focus pump went up $88.00 Ford 8.8 lockers are on backorder.
