03 or 04 Marauder

I'm in the market for a marauder. I have read about the 03's being 300a or 300b and the 04's having a stronger tranny. Of course being on this forum most of you currently own marauders but if you were in the market for another would you be looking for an 03 or 04?

I would find one with low miles 03 or 04. I personally like the in dash clock on the 03. I have an 03 and now have 50k on the clock. I, knock on wood, have not had any problems. I don't think you can go wrong with either year. Good luck? What color???????? I prefer BLACK but all the colors are sharp to me (BLACK,DTR,SB,or BLUE) Either way good luck and hope you find what you are wanting. I would also recommend getting the VIN if you get close on one to buy. Send to Roylpita for the oasis and/or carfax. This really helps.

What are you looking to do with the car you just want something to drive or are you looking to build a killer machine. I looked for about 1 year for my car, you seem to find them in two conditions

1) ragged two hell but you can get a great deal if you can do the work yourself.
2) great shape body and interior wise, some with mods but most people that have taken car of there cars have spent more doing so, meaning you spend more.

Mine was in need of some TLC bought it cheap put on an extended service contract. Had the hood, trunk and roof painted(paint was blistering), replaced the rear tires(bald), modded the lcm(intermittently headlamps inoperative), replaced steering linkage(steering wheel was binding), replaced radio(Am/Fm inoperative). I made myself a really clean car but for me it was cheaper that way.

I see that you live in Alabama, so cold/snowy winters aren't really a concern.

I bought mine when I was living in MA, and the traction control and heated seats were decent features to have and they are only on '04's.

Yep, I've got an '03 MM 300B with heated seats and traction control. :D

As to the original question .... I think you would be perfectly happy with either a 2003 or a 2004 Marauder. Not enough difference between 'em to make a big stink. Find one that is in decent shape with low miles regardless of model year and start having fun. :up:

Whats all this now? Have all my fellow 300A owners gone to sleep on me? 300As came in all black, they have the in dash clock, map pockets in the front seats, black valve covers, and under hood light(good for working under the hood), a full sized spare tire, full overhead console, there's other but those are some high light that I know and use.

Only thing to watch for is the paint on some of the 300As, I've got about 37k on my MM and so far so good. But if you want something like heated seats, Traction Control, or sun roofs then you might want to try the rest. And I wouldn't say that the '04s have a strong trans, as far as I know, its only some minor changes in pressure tolerances.

In the end I guess it boils down to what color you want, if you want black go for an '03 and choose which ever style you like more, and then go with what ever corresponding color you want, and I guess pick and 04 silver over a '03.

Well since you dragged it out.... I have a 300A and like it a lot. The Map pockets are nice.

The only car I'd trade for is a Black 04 with "factory" Moon roof that was mint with low miles - I couldn't find one at the time....

I don't think I'd trade mine in, even for one with lower miles. I like knowing that I got a great car at what I believe to be a steal of a price. Though my next couple Marauders will be:

1. SB with dark interior. I actually wanted one of these before I got my black one.
2. DBP.

And I guess a DTR after that...

I owned an 04 for 4 years, there is very little difference, I like the 03 I have better, but thats just because it was garage kept and only 42k on the clock...

Just find the best deal on a well taken care of MM...

I also had an 03 before my 04 i've got now.. I like my 04.. although i did like the fact that the 03 300a didnt have traction control. Now i just made it a habbit to turn it off on startup.

Love the Blue, but the DTR had a moonroof, still wish I had it.

Before I got mine I went to a dealer that had a 04 Silver Birch and a 03 Black 300A. Test drove them back to back and I noticed that the 04 had more pull with the minor Trans improvement but the 03 had more bite to it, that bad boi chirped the back tires as if it had a shift kit. Pricewise I would've took the 03 but at the time my credit was f*%^#! and i couldn't get either one. Come to think of it both had Spoilers too, anyway 04's have most of the extras including the option for factory moonroof. As for finding a 1 of 328 units ever made DBP good luck with that.

If you find a nice '03 don't pass on it because you think the '04 is that much better, 'cus it's not.
