Howdy all!

Hope you're having a good weekend. I've been experiencing an issue over the past month or so that I thought I'd ask you all about to see if anyone else has experienced it too. I have an '03 300B Silver Birch with 88k on the clock. Lately, while accelerating near WOT, I notice a burning smell coming from the vents, but only while the A/C is on. No such smell when just the vent is on. Any ideas what this may be? I've already had the entire A/C system replaced after a catastrophic compressor failure around 50k.

Also, I'll be moving from Arizona to Michigan and I'd prefer to tow the Marauder behind the moving truck to keep the miles off (it's about 2000 miles). Has anyone had any luck with renting a one-way trailer from anyone that can handle the width and weight of the Marauder? I plan on renting a Budget truck, but according to their service advisors, the Marauder won't fit on their trailer (though the Grand Marquis will, somehow).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

If it's an open trailer, pull it on head first. If it's a dolley (front wheels off the road /on trailer only - not recomended for long distance) remove the driveshaft and plug the transmission tail shaft.
If a trailer will carry a Grand Marquis it sure will haul a Marauder!!

Well, I answered my own question when it comes to the burning smell from the A/C. Turns out the idler pulley has been intermittently seizing up (particularly when it's under load), such as during acceleration and when the A/C compressor fires up. The seized pulley was rubbing the serpeintine belt bare, causing the burning smell!

As far as towing goes, I just drove the Marauder to the destination and will be going back to tow my wife's Infiniti G20, front wheel drive makes it a cinch to tow.

Thanks all!
