Im not sure what happnd to my pedal adjust feature but is going crazy. This startd when i moved the pedals all the way up so that my wife could reach them. The next time i tried to move them back, they moved like 1cm and stopped. Pressed the forward button and again, 1cm. What boggles my mind is the fact that they are definitely getting power, you can see it in the voltmeter. there is something affecting their range of motion, decreasing it by like 99%. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a chain or something that has broken? Im lost and its cramped in there.

Common problem, most folks just end up living with it. I think it's kind of a PITA to fix.

That's exactly what I was afraid of. Does anyone know how much a dealership charges to fix this?

Hey, thanks for posting this up, I must have missed it first time around.

Looks like it may be a weekend project for me to plan as well.

Mine broke 2 days after I bought my car (used). So I had a taste of using them once and so did my wife. They're currently set for my wife and stuck there. Suppose I'll buy a replacement and take care of it too.

Get under the drivers dash and look up at the brake pedal you will see a white plastic assembly on the brake with a black cable connected to it use a pair of pliers on squeeze the cable connector were it connects to the white plastic and pull away use a small 1/8th inch regular screwdriver and place it in the hole were the cable came from, manualy crank until pedal is at desired position if you leave the cable disconnected the gas pedel will adjust fine with the switch, but if you put the cable back pedals will be locked.

Mine has the same freaking problem.
How much dose it cost to fix it at the dealer?

Little cheapo plastic gear in the housing breaks a couple of teeth and its done. Seems to go kaplooy if the brake pedal is hit hard. Keep in mind that Ford saved like .03 cents on this gear so you can understand why they didn't go for a better quaility one.

This will be a springtime project for me too. Wife's car adjustable pedals quit adjusting a couple of months ago.

Luckily mine broke in the furthest forward position, which is where I like them. My Ford dealer quoted me $275 to fix.

I'm having the same issue in my car. Where is this black cable because I didn't see it. I saw a black cable with a gray connector on the end of it that plugged into what appear to be a black pump to the right of the gas pedal. I unplugged that and it killed the power to the pedals, but I didn't see where you could use a screwdriver to manually adjust the pedals.

I did a bit of research last time this issue came up. Using 2 or 3 online cost-estimators for custom parts, a run of about 1000 gears made of the cheapest metal material (I forget what it was now) ran closer to $20 each. You had to really crank up the volume to reduce the price, which wasn't even a big reduction. For small numbers, like fewer than 100, the price was very high - over $50 iirc.

Plastic gears, otoh, are markedly cheaper.

Would be worth the price for a permanent fix!!!

I finally found the cable, but getting the black clip off seems difficult. Anyone have any experience with this or ideas?

If someone can send me a gear I can check with my machine shop owner friend to see if he can make some for us.

There is usually a tab that needs to be depressed to release the connector.

Mine actually worked in the 04' SB for a while, in my black 03' with 20k on the clock they broke, dealer fixed em, broke again right after the warranty was up.

I would like to fix this but they are in the down position which is just fine for me and the wife.

I've tried to use a flat head screwdriver in the hole where the black cable was removed from, but I can't seem to catch the groove to turn it. I used several different size screwdrivers with no luck. Am I missing something?

Is it really China's fault or is it our fault for putting their product in US cars?

I would be interested.

As for the screwdriver method. For mine I took the bottom torx bolt out of the white plastic housing and opened the housing just enough to access the gear. I used the switch and moved the pedals until they hit the crack in the gear. I then assisted the gear through the crack using the screw driver to push the gear. Incidentally my pedals move just fine in one direction now, but not the other.
