I've been looking at the autometer gauge pods and I hate how they look stuck on. I was thinking about getting the a universal pod and plastic welding it, but that's alot of work. On my search for pods I found this website that will do custom full pillars not stickons. Would need 20 people cost is $40-$60 and a pillar to send them so they could make a mold. anyone interested?

In what color will these be molded? Black or in OEM colors?

Put me down for a dual pod.

I have a spare drivers side "A" pillar AND the company just happens to be about 10 -15 miles away. Let me know who your contact is and I can drop off my pillar.

I'd go with 3-pods. They have a nice cover for the unused pods.

These look like good quality pods. What I did back in the day was use a single and double Autometer pod for the Marauder, then had an auto trim shop wrap it in Ford material to match the leather seats:

Here's what was in before this, an Autometer dual painted to match the interior:

Just wanted to make sure everone understands you will not need to supply any parts. fastblackmerc will drop of his spare pillar and low-tek is going to make a pillar with 3 guage pods. From that they will make a mold then sell us a new pillar with 3 guage pods. Anyone interested will just have to buy the pillar from low-tek.

I have to check with the accountant aka the wife but I want a triple in charcoal. I have been doing a lot to the MM lately and not sure if there is a budget for things I want vs things it needs to be reliable. Maybe an early Christmas present from me to me.

Will they still be offering this complete pillar after the group buy? I'm sure it would be more but if I can't do it now I would like to be able to later. I will also check w/David and see if he would be interested also. I'll shoot you a PM once I talk to the wifey.

I reckon I need to get another gauge...

Fixin' to swap some gauges around too. The sending unit for my oil pressure gauge is getting flakey again, so I'm gonna change to a mechanical. I also want to add an oil temperature gauge. The mechanical oil pressure gauge is only available in full sweep so it will match the fuel pressure and boost gauges on the A-pillar. The oil temperature gauge is available in 90 degree sweep so it can go in the OEM pod and match the volts and trans temperature gauges. Still leaves me with the uninstalled column pod...

for the mechanical oil pressure gauge don't you have to run an oil line inside the car. I don't know how much I would trust that

You can get a stainless steel braided line for the mechanical oil pressure gauges.

I've changed the sending unit at least 6 times on the electrical one. I'm tired of that, it's a PITA to get to on my car due to the CVPI oil cooler adapter. Jack (marauderjack) has been running a mechanical gauge for years with no problems. I may upgrade the hose from the nylon hose that comes with the gauge to something more secure.

still waiting to hear from Kariamack and
centexmaruauder

centexmaruauder has proven to be very difficult to get in contact with. His original order of 18 has dropped to three but I still can't get a hold of him. So it looks like I will be covering the additional orders needed to complete the sale. I would have liked that if he wasn't interested that he would have just told me so instead of wasting my time. I also reached out to him and offered my help and spare parts to fix his car. Guess that was just a cover story instead of saying sorry man I changed my mind:bs:

I will be calling Lotek to place the order and start production on the prototype pillar anyone else that is interested just send me a pm I will send you my contact and payment info
Thanks

I can't decide how many gauges to have!

I would like color matching leather though.

Just got an email from lotek I asked if production would be done
by the end of December.

Nick:

It’s possible but we can’t say for sure. The prototype for the mold is still being worked then we need to create the actual production mold. So it will most likely be later in January that we will have product.

I sent them an email this morning about the eta no response yet. I'm starting to get frustrated with them, first they tell me January and then in January it gets pushed back to early February and now we are in February and I still have no confirmed eta:shake:. Here is the latest and greatest on the ETA

Nick:

We are running a little long with the mold but I was told it will be finished by this Friday. Once it is done we will send it to vacuum form the parts. If all goes well we will have product at the end of February.

I apologize for the delay I've been on them pretty hard about how late they are from the original ETA. fastblackmerc and I are working on getting the color samples to them. got this from Lotek today so almost ready

Our first mold was not satisfactory so they are pouring a new one and it should be done any day now. Once I have it it will be sent to get the initial presses done. So, once I send it, it should be just about two weeks.

Update

The final product is back and the production mold is being made. So mass production is about ready to start. Fastblackmerc is trying to find time to make it up to the shop he has two trim items one of each color so Lowtek can match them up. As soon as I get a ship date I will let everyone know. I would really like to thank everyone for being patience and understanding. I have been on these guy like a Pit bull about how behind schedule they are.

I called our vacuum forming company today. They were able to press 25 units and said the presses are shipping today. We will have them by Thursday. It will take a few days to cut them out and paint them. Jim says he can bring up a color sample. So we can have our paint supplier do a color match. They will start shipping by early next week. I expect no other delays..

We did not bill your credit card prior to making the mold because of the delays. We will bill your card prior to shipping for the amount, as specified previously, based on the list you gave us.

bawazir,
Your going to have to use your imagination a little, just like fastblackmerc said,( a pillar with 3 holes):P. Here is a pic of one they make for and F250. It will have OEM like texture and OEM color. Given the only other comparable item that is from Autometer you have to glue or rivet to you factory trim. Ask SVT Merc about his experience with the Autometer unit. I think this is a better option

Not that I really wanted to be an example..... but yeah, as strong as 3M double sided tape is, apparently it won't hold a gauge pod in place long enough to hold out for these to be made. The Autometer ones MUST be secured to your existing OEM A-pillar in a way that if you want to remove them at a later date you will have holes in your A-pillar. Trying to avoid this cost me my car...... a lesson WELL LEARNED! :censor::censor::censor:

well i installed it today and it fits and looks great - two little problems - the screw they give you will not work - it needs to be longer and the corner where the dash and windshield meet needs to built up - when you take off your old one you will see a piece of foam on the bottom - you need more than that to build it up to set level to dash

Is there a plan to do another run? Somehow I completely missed this entire GB. Would have loved to have a tripple. Don't suppose there are any extras? Feel free to PM if you have info.

I just picked up my pillar pod at Lo-Tek today. It looks GREAT! Thanks ntd!!

Talking to Dennis @ Lo-tek, these pillar pod assemblies are actually made to go over the OEM pillar cover (I said the exact opposite in a previous post.... forgive me:bows:). Believe it or not the OEM pillar cover is actually a safety feature and the pillar pod is made to go on top of the OEM cover. Of course you can do it anyway you want but Lo-Tek has to sell them as a cover with the small screw so they don't get in trouble with the Feds

BTW, Lo-tek can make anything that can be vacuum formed.... I thinking center gauge pod, overhead console (short and long), center console, door sill covers. What Lo-Tek will need is the part, which will get destroyed in the process and enough orders to make it "worth their while" to make.

If I count the 12V power plug's location, I'm coming up with 10 gauges.

BTW: Nice slide show with cool music!

Don't wimp out now!...go for broke and install a dash top gauge pod + a steering column gauge pod!!

Then you'll have 14 gauges!

BTW: Someone's even made a dual steering column gauge pod, so you could really go for 15 gauges...

When you did the test fitting did they put it over your pillar or install it as a replacement:confused:.

I removed the OEM pillar cover.

Let me try to be clearer....

Lo-Tek sells these as a cover, to go over the OEM pillar cover to satisfy the Feds. It will work either as a cover over the OEM pillar cover or a a replacement on the OEM cover. Once it's in your hot little hands you can do as you wish.

You mean that I do NOT have to find another OEM pillar AND I can flaunt the Feds at the same time!?!?....
