I decided to start looking for a '04 Marauder. I'm not dead set on color yet. It's between Silver and Black. I definitely want the Dark Charcoal interior. I am going to trade in my grandmother's 2003 Lincoln Town Car for it. I have contacted three dealers and only one of them seems interested in earning my business. One of the dealers told me to just get a Grand Marquis with the Handling Package and save myself some money. I doubt I will get to test drive one since no dealers have them on their lots. I will fill in more details as I find out more.

Chief:Show up at a Marauder meet and talk to some owners. You'll buy one. That simple. Done deal. No brainer.

Chief, I know this has been mentioned quite a bit, but it's a crying shame that L/M did such a Pi** poor job of training at least one person at the dealerships about this wonderful automobile.
I stopped at several large L/M dealers in my travels (I travel the country for my job) and it was mind boggling just how uninformed every salesperson I talked with was about this car. I even asked, do you have someone here that knows more about the Marauder and can answer my questions? The answer was always - well, no!

Good choice on interior colour I think.
That comment from the dealer about buying a Grand Marquis with HPP illustrates one reason these cars have not sold as they should have. That dealer likely thinks they are the same vehicle except for price.
(and really, an optioned out Grand Marquis isn't priced too different from a Marauder, and still only has a SOHC engine.)

I traded my 2002 Grand Marquis LSE, with handling package, floor shifter, for a 2004 MM. The two cars do not compare. The Marauder has big power, and a tight suspension. Driving the Marauder is a totally different experience!!

Chief: I went from a '99 Cobra to a '02 CV LXSport as I wouldn't buy the MM for what they were asking. Once the price came down with the incentivies, I traded the CV in on a new '03 MM. There is no comparision between the Sport and the MM. I wasn't really satisfied with the CV, but the Cobra was at 100K and had to go. My MM now has 36K+ since purchased 11/02, and I've enjoyed every mile. As for dealers, there are a few that have some idea what this car is about, but they are few and far between. You'll garner more info and insite about the MM on this board than any dealer will ever know!
Nix the GM as Marauder. My Crown is fully pimped, handling and all. IT IS NO MARAUDER.

I will say one thing in my opinion.Ford is terrible at advertising. From the Focus to the Marauder you don't see anything.Anytime you may see or hear an ad it is from a local dealership.
It is typical of Ford not to educate the dealers on cars like the Marauder. The Marauder had to sell itself,ie. slow sales and only a 2 year run when said and done.

I called every dealer in the area and none of them have a Marauder. I called as far north as Springfield IL and Decatur IL today. They did not have one. So I am putting the word out. Anybody in Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin please let me know if they have any Marauders. I am looking for a Silver or Black with Dark Charcoal interior.
Let me know.

Would you come to Kansas City?
Found a 2003 Black MM with 952 miles on it for $29995 on a L/M lot here or are you set on an 04?

Check out the L/M dealer in Kokomo, Indiana. They had two when I bought mine last week (mine and the black one in my sig pic) and the sales guy that helped me is good about looking for cars on other lots. I can e-mail you his name if you want. Also, look into the L/M dealership in Lafayette, IN-they had four black ones on the lot the last time I was there.

Chief, why not give Tim Hembree a call at Crossroads LM in Indy. He's also a member here, MarauderHombre. 1.800.532.8736

Well guys! I did it! I ordered a 2004 Marauder. Black with dark interior. The only option I got from the factory is heated seats. When it arrives at the dealer I am having the spoiler put on and remote start. In 4 to 6 weeks I'll be an "official official" member of this group. Thanks for all the input.

and I'm glad that you didn't listen to those bonehead salesmen. especially the one who was telling you to just buy a Marquis. Like the two former Marquis owners in this thread have already stated, there's no comparisant. I bet you can hardly wait for your new car!!!!

Congrats. You will love the car. It is one heckuva great ride. You might want to consider adding the CD Magazine in the trunk. I have it and I love it.

I am only 1/8th Native American, but I got the name Chief from my grandfather who died when I was 4 years old. The name has stuck with me and my friends and family all call me Chief. My real name is Keith, either is fine.
Thanks for the warm welcome here. Glad to be a part of the Marauder community. I can't wait to drive it on the highway and have traffic part in front of me because they think I'm a cop car. Or is this just a myth that I read about only in car magazines?

That parting of traffic is mostly a myth, From what I've experienced.
Although, I have noticed a few cars come roaring up on the freeway, in another lane, and then suddenly decide to slow down and get behind me for a while.
We also have a '97 CVPI. It really just looks like any other '97 Crown Victoria, and has no spot lights or anything "Police-like" but twice now, I've had people in front of me just pull over. Me not speeding, tailgating or anything. Each time the driver had a funny look on his face as I drove past. Them feeling guilty about something, ot just stupid, who knows.

No it's not a myth. I had quite a group of traffic behind me the other night on 465 around Indy-no one wanted to try to pass me. Gave me a good laugh. I really enjoy watching people come up on me in the left lane only to see the front end of their car take a sudden dive and they signal and get right behind me. I picked up a cell phone antenna mast from one of the labs at work so we'll see what kind of impact that has.

LOL, I forget where I spotted that pic. If anyone has rights to it let me know. I will not knowingly plagiarize someone's pics.
I have been around, however I have been very fortunate in that I now own both cars I had lusted for! The Marauder is still bone stock, with, 3300 miles now. I took it to St. Thomas on the CVN trip, and it went to Dearborn for Ford's 100th celebration.
I have also acquired a car I've wanted since 1987. A 1988 BMW M6. Mine is one of 347 '88 US M6's made. Rust-free, never hit, never in snow/rain........a true garage queen. I'm lovin' it.
Just turned 68,000 miles. Here's a pic below:
http://members.roadfly.org/beemerz/m6%20007.jpg
I spent most of the summer doing BMW specific shows, and working the bugs out of the M6. It needed some brake and frontend work when I bought it.
Best to all here!
