I saw a pic of a black MM on another site with an aftermarket steering wheel. Was it anyone here and if so how much of a hassle was the swap?

Yes.
Not a terribly big deal but the look is not for everyone.

I like my steering controls, I would never even consider it.

And you'll lose the airbag...

I saw one with the wood wheel from a GM. To each his own.

You can use the wood steering wheels from the Grand Marquie.

If the wood was a dark cherry, (red) then I might try it.

The lime green suede looks pretty good on mine.

I can't remember the last time I touched the cruise control or climate controls. I do use the volume control, but I could go back to reaching for it.
What I'd like to do is swap out for the Mustang 3 spoke wheel. Be nice to keep the airbag, but that would be pretty risky to play with. I have seen some nice aftermarket wheels that are in the 15 inch diameter range.
I Hate the idea of changing the steering wheel on a MM, unless it's the new one from the Towncar, CV/GM but otherwise NO!!!!, airbag issues, messing up the controls, etc. I hate to see Impala SSs (94-96) with weird steering wheels you find in hotrod cars, totally takes away from the interior IMO. If a modern vehicle is supposed to have an airbag then it's there for a reason.

I was given a woodgrain-insert steering wheel from a CV or a GM, and I bought the other dash trim to go with it. I never liked the stupid faux dot-matrix crap on the MM...I think woodgrain looks more elegant...haven't installed it yet, but I'm going to.

Overload...Do you have the trim for the doors, too, or just the dash and the steering wheel? I too am not a fan of the faux dot matrix look.

No, just the steering wheel and the 2 dash pieces...although I prefer wood over the dot-matrix, I just wanted a touch of it, not the whole Florida blue-hair look... :D

I would consider a heated steering wheel either S55 red/black or something that matches the panels on the dash and the doors.
I'm not going with "Your Mama" look
