Specifically, found Dunlop SP Sport Maxx (I run 245/45/18 all around) at a GREAT price for the apparent performance comments and speed rating on the website, wondered if anyone had at least heard anything negative about Dunlops in general or specifically these particular tires?

Don't know much about the Sport Maxx but I am a Dunlop fan. I believe the Sport MAxx is not an all season but, you might want to look into that to be sure.

it's definately not all-season, it's sold as max performance summer dry, but they say it works pretty well in wet conditions as well. the only thing they recommend NOT driving in them with is extreme cold/ice conditions. But in my mind, $138 a tire for y-rated speed and ultra-high grip(backed up with testimonials) seems like a FANTASTIC deal and there's no adjustment for me because I've had 245/45/18 tires on the car since I bought it.

We have Dunlop somethingorothers on the rear of the black MM. They are at least as good wet and dry traction as the stock BFGs rears are. They just happened to be what was cheapest when we got a screw through the sidewall of a rear tire.
