ok now im stumped. i pulled the little plastic cover off the pully and expected to find a nut. all i found was what looks like a spline. i have no clue how to remove it.

Special tool. Splines fit down in the pulley. Use an air impact. Find somebody with a Trilogy, the tool comes with their kit.
