Wacky wipers
fellas, I'm experiencing the wiper problem now. The wipers come on when they want to and go off when they want to. I also noticed that when the wipers are going crazy, the headlights won't turn off. Is the LCM the problem again or what?

I'd put my money on the wiper motor shorting out due to water puddling under it. If your MM lives outside and collects any type of debris, leaves, and tree junk, it will clog the drain hole and cause water to build up because of improper drainage. There is a TSB out on this dating back to '03 or '04 for "Uncommanded Wiper Operation" that details the fix. I am on my 3rd wiper motor. The full TSB replaces the wiper motor, replaces the pigtail and enlarges the drain hole. Since this was done "correctly" in 2006, I have not had a reoccurrence.

It's not the LCM that's giving you problems, its the wiper control module.
Follow Richy04's procedure, or replace the wiper control motor and module (sold as a unit), make sure the trap door and drain holes are clean and you'll be good to go.
WCM is around $100, you're looking at a couple hours labor, and the work can be done with simple hand tools.

He posted the same question at the end of Richy's thread on the subject. Either he didn't read it or he didn't understand it because he still thinks its the LCM.
