Well did a tune up tonight got some seafoam, AMSOIL 0w-20 and 8 quarts of Mercon V ATF. Dumped some seafoam into the oil, drove home. seaform pcv side and then did brake booster side till stalled. Then I drained my deep trans pan (magnetic plug was covered!) I just put this trans in 2 weeks ago and wanted to flush it soon to keep the fluid as clean as possible.

Drained transpan hot, put in new, didn't start car! Checked fluid level with dip stick before running. A LOT easier to at least get the pan to the full mark. After a quick drive to get the seafoam out - I checked the fluid at hot level idle and addded 1/2 quart to the trans. Stock pan is 6 quarts and I have a +2QT pan, but I only put in about 7 and she reads full.

Came back, drained engine oil pan hot and chase flushed half a qt of M1 0w-20. Let it trickle out for 10mins. Primed new Fl820s with AMSOIL 0w-20 (got a nice box full of AMSOIL from dealer today!) put almost 6 quarts into the pan and she reads full.

There was Dirt coming from fuel filter (tank end) when I held up my old fuel filter and watched the gas run out of it -- filter was less than 1 year old. New filter was generic (should have gotten real Motorcraft) I want to do the fuel filter upgrade mod in the spring.. I broke one of the factory clips and had to "shave" new generic "crown vic" clips to fit. also I took a bath a bit with the gas. Best way is to get out of car when running go to trunk and hit the fuel kill button- then wait for stall and you will not see fuel squirt out?

Key on- Key off about 3 times, then I bumped the starter 4 times to get the oil pump primed a bit. When i started up I didn't hear dry cam sounds, idle is like butter now. Noticeably smoother :bows:

Anyhoo - I'm getting tuned up for the drags, hope it doesn't rain on this Sunday. On deck: rear gear oil (yes AMSOIL)- trying to save my axles.

Cool! Let me know if you need those clips! I was able to get my originals out a-ok and have the two new ones that came with the upgraded fuel filter I installed. I'm getting the 4.10's and carrier installed this Saturday. Steeda UDP's, PHP spacer also. :D I can't wait!

I was think of upgrading to a bigger/better fuel filter setup (like the one Reinhart has listed on his page)

Usually I don't break the clips - this time I broke one.

Upgraded (larger) fuel filter - FG800A
It comes with two new clips. Got it at Autozone. I didn't do the new bracket. I was able to bend it to shape so the new one fit snug in the old bracket. You actually had dirt come out of the tank end??? Better than sugar i guess!!!

I've had my MM for just a month. The previous owner mentioned living on a dirt road. I changed the fuel filter right away and there was a disturbing amount of light tan silt that came out of the tank end of the filter. I bet a teaspoon total (I let it drain into a container and evaporate overnight). I am going to change it again. Don't know why come to think of it. I guess if it is real clean I'll re-install it.

If you are draining the trans fluid from the drain plug unless you have a huge deep pan (I have an Art Carr deep pan) it should only be about 5 Quarts needed.

I remember the first time I changed my fuel filter holy crap the amount of junk that came out the tank side. That reminds me I should do it again soon, I need to find Zack's fuel filter mod thread and go with a larger one and get rid of the 90 degree bend.

Yeah, my PML pan is +2 over factory which I thought was 6. So 6+2 = 8 but I put about 7 in and shes full.

I drove my car a lot this summer, but I will upgrade the fuel filter system in spring. Was thinking of this Reinhart setup for 250 but it's a bit spendy, I need to buy tires! It does look nice though. Overkill for N/A?
