Getting ready to put on the s-trim vortech on and need to figure out what fuel pump to put on. From what searching around here has brought up is that a single gt-40 pump should be more then enough? Should i order the 20amp BAP to go with it? What are the kenny browns normally running on them?

Thanks

Matt

My ProCharger kit came with a 255 Walbro.

I plan to replace it, in anticipation for more mods down the road, with a GT "supercar" pump and a BAP.

with a GT "supercar" pump

Do you have a good part number or a link to where your going to get it?

I run bigger injectors, a GT500 pump and a Kenne Belle Boost a Pump. It gets fuel.

Matt, The KB cars came with a aft Holley fuel pump not sure what flow rate though and only good for the 9.5 lbs. You need to go with what F/M said a GT500 pump and a KB BAP should push more than enough fuel for the future also. On My KB-S I was running out of fuel after other mods were installed.

Forgive my ignorance, but why do you need a BAP? Why not just run thicker gauge wiring to the pump?

Thats a good question? I have wondered this myself maybe bad for the internal pump always pulling more volts not just at WOT? :dunno:

This may be a totally stupid question, but what would be the difference in the gt-40 pump to the gt-500 pump? (flow rate?) Do they both fit in our "cradle" (in the tank) or whatever?

There is a very good writeup on how to swap a GT40 fuel pump for the original MM pump.

I think its cool because you can actually adjust the amount of extra fuel boosted from 1% to 50%

I read that one, its linked above. Is the gt-500 the same way or do you have to do a bunch of modifications? It seems like the gt-40 with the BAP should give me the needed fuel rates.

I assume the GT-500 is the same. I'm going with the GT40 pump. You can also do a Focus pump or twin Focus pumps I believe.

So what made you decide on the gt-40 pump? Is their a difference between them and the gt-500? I cant seem to find any good info on the gt-500 pump to compare the two.

I am equipped with twin GT500 pumps and no boost-a-pump.
Fuel flow over 60lb injectors solid with my current setup at / about 490 rwhp on a t-trim w/2.90 pulley.

Zack told me it was a good idea if I ever wanted to make over 500hp.

That was good enough for me. ;)

Wow geez.... i cant believe i didnt already see that!! (sarcastic) :shake::shake: Its already been mentioned on the first page. I wanted to see if anyone had numbers on the gt-500 compared to the gt-40 and if the install was different.

Edit: Also, if you would've read my post before being a search nazi, you would have seen that i already searched on the gt-40 and was wondering other options.

You might want to consider an aftermarket FPDM.

ginson3
09-25-2009, 06:19 PM
The GT500 runs twin pumps and FPDM's, not sure about the GT-40. Cruztaker, what did you do about the FPDM? Also, where did you get the fuel hat modified if you don't mind telling? I am finally supposed to get my return style system finished tomorrow. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Who all is running a modified FPDM on their BAP'd system?

-Matt-

After more searching ant reading throughout the intraweb it seems that a 40amp BAP is what im going to need over the 20amp BAP.

Like in my Sig. Stage 2 FPDM twin gt40 pumps 60# injectors no lack of fuel.

I honesty dont see (by reading as much data as i have so far) that i need twin 40 pumps AND all that other jazz.

What ive found:

Single SVT Focus is 143 LPH at 80 psi.
Dual Cobras are 268 lph at 80 psi
Single aviator is 270 lph, but a lot of current draw.
Single GT-40 is 324 LPH and the current is lower then the aviator.

Now if this is true, 324lph PLUS up to 50% boost from a BAP, how much more bloody fuel do i need? I think the gt-40 + 40amp BAP should be plenty for power well over 500hp

I have heard of a few, and have seen a modified hat online somewhere, but it was $975.00 ish.

So i came to the conclusion that i will run the single gt-40, the KB 40amp BAP (might as well run the 40amp, its only like 30 bucks more) and cobra 39 pounders. I may need to get bigger injectors depending on how she acts on the dyno, but thats my starting point.

Matt, Iam pretty much at the limit of my 42LB injectors with pushing 500 to rear wheels I would upgrade to atleast the 42 if not a set of 60's. depending on youre long term wants and needs! I just left my tuners shop and he has another S/C Marauder there w/ the 39's and he is at his limit with them at around 470 to the rear! just my .02 cents.

I run the 42"s which came with DR's A2A kit but like I was saying anymore and Iam going to have to upgrade. saw around 475 out of a Trilogy car at my tuners and he is ALMOST running out of fuel at 6K RPMS with the 39's . I cant remeber which came with the KB-S do you have the ones from MiKe? did he sell them to you with the kit? If you can live with the 39's for about 6-months I will sell mine to you when I put a new motor in as I will be upgrading to the 60's
