I'm thinking of going back into production with the 10" speaker box. They work nicely in runs of 4.

IF you are unfamiliar, They are for 10" and fit where the stock sub was. Keep the spare. Custom built and wired for YOUR woofer - not generic. 3/4" 13 ply furniture grade construction. Rounded edges. Corner protectors.

Details and photographs in this thread:
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37985

Pricing is $175 and includes a consult for your woofer, and shipping in the continental US.

I know a few had been waiting for me to go back into production

I know I would want one cause my 12" box takes up a lot of usable room. I'd probably look to purchase one in a few months though. Finances are a mess right now with getting ready to start going through a divorce lol.

Just did this a few months ago... :bigcry:

I'd rather have done your setup Rich!

Although this provides me more than enough thump.

You need to do mine. I tried all day yesterday to install my MTX like yours but have a problem with the unit staying on. It powers up then after a few seconds it powers back off. Did you use the pigtail method or run new wires?:mad2:

I'll respond via PM so we don't hog Rich's thread.

What would it cost for a JL sub/your box and decent amp?

Rich does the box and does not sell electronics. You can check with me for those. I do not sell JL. We have done these with MTX and Rich makes it work very well!

It's possible to put a 12" sub on the rear deck.

I encourage purchasing the amp/sub from John.

The MTX 5500 10" DVC and MTX TA2301 work very nicely. John can also supply the wiring kit. It is my specialty and hobby to supply a quality built box that fits and lasts!

John and I have teamed up on many of these setups. He ships you the electronics and I ship the box. In some cases, folks have chosen to have John ship me everything and I assemble and ship to you. Pricey, but perfect.

Where else you gonna get a box with this much support?

It's possible to get 2-15's on the rear deck. Or 8-10's or even 12-8's.

It's all a matter of ingenuity.

And if you wonder.. I HAVE done the 2-15's, I HAVE done 4-10's and I have the designs for 8-10's and 12-8's.

Show me the money!

Rich, I am audio stupid. How easy is it to hook up the new sub / amp to the existing wires?

I have the same sub in my car as well and it sounds great.

Not too hard. Just can't use too big of an amp. Buy a box and I'll talk ya through it.

Thanks, it's actually a blessing.

I'll def. email when I am ready, not worried on the wait time cause I'm going to research sub and amp combo since so much has changed from when I was back in the car A/V game doing stuff for SLAP and IASCA many many moons ago. I would like to get some Zapco or Nakamichi subs again if their quality is still what it used to be.

You still have the design to do a multiple 10" sub box still, if so would you be interested in making another?

Yeah, I'd make another King Kong as Jamal called it!

Might wanna check out pioneer subs. I miss Zed products from back in the day... the old autotek, earthquake... bad ass stuff. I'm running a 24 year-old Linear Power 500.2!

Forget going for audiophile subs in this car. You need rugged beef with precision. You NEVER hear the face of the woofer. It needs to take the heat, pressure changes, and abuse. Pioneer is real good for that!

Rugged beef with precision? Then I will be on a hunt for some Eclipse 8100Ti DVC Titanium subs or a trio of old school JL Audio 10W3D3 subs.

Yeah!! The King Kong Box is crazy! With the 4 10's it hits hard at any level. And with that extra weight over the rear tires I seem to have better traction ;)

Where do you fit the amp(s) with the king kong box? I feel like doing it.

First you need to decide what kind of level of bass you want, then shop for subs and find an amp that meets the combined RMS of the subs and ohm load.

Talk to Pops he will steer you in the right direction for that stuff.

There ya go. The three JL's would bomb! I'd like to see that!

BDG originally had them on the back of the box, then moved them.

Some ideas:
Build the box to accommodate the amps on the back
False the floor up and put em in there.
False up the sides (like BADMERC)

The best way to get a box built and shipped so that it fits is to put the amps on the back. We'd have to talk about amp and speaker choice so it will work.

As BDG will tell you, it's not cheap, but worth it!

The King Kong thread... see Jamaal, you're famous!

When going that big - details like size, shape and heat load of the amps starts to matter, too!

For the 10 box, size of the amp determines if you can use the factory wiring or need to run bigger - and then how big!
