The person that's getting these coilcovers should be pretty happy.
ESPECIALLY with what I was given to work with!!!
I'm reasonably happy with the way they turned out. I just wish the hadn't been so beat up.

OK........Here are the BEFORE.

LOL.....Thanks!...........Eato ns SUCK! But I've done eatons, whipples, KBs, Vortec and ProChargers.

I've mainly done them for Big money show cars and I have the SC disassembled to do the job to the level required to be in a high dollar car show.

You should start a exchange program for polished parts. I bet you could do wonders on a timing cover.

Yup..........I've got some rotating stock. I've done a front cover before and it turned out quite nice, but fairly expensive, but that guy also had me to do a lot of other items.
That car had a a HUGE bling factor!:D

price on timing cover?

It depends on what degree you want that part taken.
Normal non-show car polish on that part is $350 with you paying shipping both ways and if it's a used part, it needs to be degreased and gaskets, seal and RTV removed.

Remember, the coil covers above are my normal level of polish.

ImpalaSlayer

so is normal "non-show" ?

MY normal.
95% of people will be perfectly happy MY normal polish job.

When I say "Show", I'm talking about the National event shows that you get INVITED to show your car.

very nice work, I bet that took a few hours and then some. I was contemplating doing that on my s/c, plenum and tb myself but after doing to exhaust, one stainless and one aluminum I am rethinking doing any polishing myself.

I had a guy give me a set of cam covers off his 06 GT Mustang since he knew I do polishing of various parts. He wanted to see what a set would look like polished up since most people just hate the raw covers Ford put on these cars.
I was a bit board after making a big sale the other day, so I took one cover and put it to the wheel to gauge the quality of the metal and casting. There was a fair amount of porosity, it was nothing that is going to be insurmountable and just a rough prep and slight buff shows an outstanding promise to make a VERY quality piece when fully prepped in a more through sequence.
Here are the results of the quick job. Bare in mind that was just to give me an idea of what the end product will look like.

Sorry for the poopy pics. My Camera is out of batteries and had to borrow my partner's camera in his office.

In working in earnest on the cam covers on Sat, I've come to the conclusion that these ARE made out of magnesium. There's just no way that aluminum will have the color that these do. While testing other buffing compounds, the wheel loaded up differently with the rougher compounds than they do with aluminum.
There is a fair amount of porosity in the casting, but I don't think it's insurmountable.......just pizzing me off a bit! LOL!
I should have a pair finished tomorrow sometime................maybe!

A BULLITT owner that was with me on Sat said I should tease you guys with the buff I have on the covers right now.
Since he saw these covers Sat morning, he said these are HIS and I'm not to sell them to anyone! LOL! It's pretty funny watching him salivating at these cam covers as I make progress on them and him making REPEATED comments like, "Damn! Those are gonna look killer on the car!"

Found some batteries!!!

Great looking work!
If they are made out of magnesium, they are some high $$ valve covers!

BTW: Has 'DOOM'/Jake called you yet?.....:P

It's prolly some alloy, but that's what Ford has been doing as of late for weight savings. The new 6,2 will have mag cam covers also.

Nope..........he hasn't called yet.

Finally found some time to finish up these covers. I'm fairly happy with them, but everyone that sees them go nutts over them. I guess I'm my worst critic!

She shine seems to be screwing with my little camera. My good one is being repaired.

I searched for a polished intake manifold for my MM but could not find one so, I decided to polish it. I also polished my coil covers and valve covers. It was alot of work and I learned some while I was at it. They look pretty good and I got a since of pride from doing it myself. However, my air compressor bit the dust while I was working on them.

Your top is pretty easy, not lot of porosity problems and it's an easy structure to do. The lower SUCKS HINEY bigtime! I've done one lower and if it hadn't been for a REALLY good FEMALE friend, I never would have done it.
