I shot my pie hole off after the farewell /raffel breakfast to Mary and MercMan, about considering Chicago for an upcoming Marauderville.
There's no way any one person could pull it off , with out many members help folks.
Nor, do I appoint myself as the general, though I will do as necessary, if that is our choice.
Post up what you think, good or bad idea?

i say it's a good idea. I've never been to the Windy City (even tho i live kinda close... lol) Plus i'd be attending 2 Maraudervilles in a row. it'd be sweet :)

The Mid-West is awesome......but I would save Chicago for another time perhaps. We had St. Louis and Indianapolis back to back. Chicago would be 3 in a row. I'd be inclined to suggest moving it to another region next year. Maybe Hersey/Lancaster PA, New York, Great Smokey Mountains, or a Southern venue. JMHO :)

The planning is difficult & the Chicago location is great. With enough advance work you can get sponsor money lined up. That will help pay for a good drag strip venue and/or even a road course as a 'first' for a Marauderville meet. Vendors also would have time to schedule participation, like we had at the first Indy. You can also plan where to have the meet & get the indoor parking etc. Consider options that are car-related. Does Volo have space to host us, for instance? Would Hizzoner give you grass space in Lincoln Park or the like? Dyno day at Sutton?
Totally on topic....

So do we like submit a bid to to the MM.N and polish the city some more? Maybe we can get Daley and Pres. Obama to help with this? Another question that needs to be asked is; Is Chicago ready for the impact of everything Marauders are made of? Loud exhaust, smokey tires, one on one drags down LSD, Ect?
My vote, hell yeah!

Last time we tried to get it in Atlanta we were told to hold off on proposals until after the first of the year, so I assume it's too early to start pushing for next year's event when this year's was just last week. Anyway, our proposal lost...

Chicago is too far for me. Thats about 18 hours. The 12 hour drive home from Indy was my maximum single trip tolerance.
Chicago is three hours grom Indy Paul. My guess a lot less on a direct route.

Free hotel??? Bring an air mattress! I have a HUGE finished basement plus i'm a great cook! The Marauderville that EVERYONE will talk about for the next 20 years. I could probably fit close to atleast 25 cars on my postage stamp, but there is always the neighbors yard! And a garage for me and Doom, plus all the tools you would ever need for any breakdowns!

One of the IDEAS I had was along the line of what justbob was offering.
A Bed & Breakfast type arrangement, this would be between the members privately.
Especially if enough notice was involved, that way people could fly in or utilize other types of transportation to save on overall costs.

Brad, I am ready to help out whenever you want.
I know we can all save cash by renting out hotel rooms closer to your area or another suburb. There are cruises every thursday and friday includding one place that would reserve a lot just for us. I forgot what suburb that is, it's off of I-55 I believe. Race tracks are all over, but no matter what Byron, Da Grove or US 41 all seem to be near the same distance away.
There are plently of musiems with parking and restaurants with big parking lots.
Call me for details. I had a complete plan for the Mods a few years ago, but I think I was too late in the game. I'd love to make it happen. Call me. Let's sit down for a day and figure this one out. I'll be there every step of the way.

Nothing like a little LSD late at night on a warm summer Friday or Saturday night,no traffic like this to mess it up.

oh yeah! Lower Wacker w/ 70 MM's EXHAUST; SWEET!! (Not since the "Blues Brothers" movie scene down there has there been THAT many HOT Ford-Powered Cars!!" :banana2::beer::bows:)
ALSO LADIES; DON'T forget - PRIMO shopping on Michigan Ave!! (Jennifer says!) PLUS cheap public trans to get you there - you could ride the famous Chicago El Train!
Lake Shore Drive IS awesome for our road course too!
Bottom Line: Chicago is a GREAT idea! (EVEN though it's a good 11 HR + Drive for this transplant boy! "Sweet Home Chicago!" :banana2:)
