It has now been seven years and 148,xxx miles since the Marauder has entered my position. Back when I got it I was 16 and 11 months old. I was going to high school, living with my parents, playing in a pop punk band and was new to drag racing.

Where I am now. I am in my final year of college, living on my own, have a girlfriend, playing in a band with the same drummer as I was seven years ago and have done a ton of racing. This car has seen me change and seen friends come and go. It's been all over. Chicago, KY, Washington DC, Ohio, Detroit...

I have had lots of fun racing people and screwing around on the streets. My most memorable night was killing a GT500 around 1am on the south side of the city. Killing 2 black Vettes on I-55, destroying a V10 at the drag strip... many kind words from everyone, even people who don't know me.

The car has been so easy to work on and has been a beast overall. Anything that went wrong with it was always due to aftermarket parts, very few Ford parts actually went bad. This car has converted me over from a Chevy guy to a Ford guy... pretty much. I still like Chevy's, but Fords just to be the better quality from my experience.

The car has been in a few accidents, but was always able to be fixed. I seriously think the car saved my dads life when he crashed it and got a DUI and has been cold turkey ever since. I didn't want anything more than to have my dad quit drinking and the way that rear end slips in the snow caused him to crash it and get caught. One crashed Marauder for a sober father is more than I could ever ask for. The car was fixed almost instantly.

I have met many nice people here because of the car. If I don't get along with someone in our club or the other club I do my best to find peace... sometimes I can deal with it sometimes I have to wait a little while. I have seen a few members come and go over the years, but mostly stay. I really do feel like this is the home away from home. If one of you was in need I would be there and I'm sure you would for me. This club has turned into more then I ever imagined. Sometimes I need a rest for a little while, but I always tend to come back.

This car has kept me safe from other drivers (the accidents) and myself. I wouldn't wanna trade the car for anything, ever. I refuse to let a beater take it's place. I am going to enjoy this car no matter what. Wither it's raining, snowing or sunny... it's seen it all and it's going to see more. It's fast, fun and the enjoyment never seems to go away. Sometimes I still look at it for minutes at a time and just have to reassure myself as to how lucky I am for a car like this... especially at this age, as most of the members have told me.

BTW a few of you forget, but I am not third or second generation, I am the first generation owner for this car. Yes my dad got it for me. He wanted me to be safe and get outta that bucket I was driving that needed repairs every two weeks. He wanted the best for me and we got better than that.

To another seven years and 150,000 miles! :burnout:

Quite the story and a great read! You're definitely lucky to have had the opportunity to get such as nice car at such a young age. Glad to hear of your father's sobriety, as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts... (A&W Rootbeer)

And thank your father for getting you (and him) a vehicle that is so rare and forgiving when it comes to young drivers. A smaller car (Camaro/Mustang) while more in line with younger drivers tastes would have been a poorer choice for you.
