But I ain't complaining! First of all: My wife and kids are fine. That's the most important thing, of course. Thank God.

On the way to school this morning my wife ran off the road and rolled our Kia Sedona down a 50 ft. embankment. The only part of the van's body not bent is the rear hatch.

The roof is crushed in front - along with the windshield, the hood is crushed, both front doors are mangled and the glass is busted out, the side mirrors broke off, the sliding doors are bent along with both quarter panels. And the right front tire blew out and is nearly off the rim.

The amazing thing is that even with all that damage, they were able to drive the van out of the ravine and up to street level so it could be loaded onto a roll-back. More amazing is that no one was injured - at all!

Maybe not a miracle. Could be just a really tough little mini van. But I believe that God had his hand on my little family this morning. And I am so thankful!

The Marauder is our other family car. I handed my wife the keys and told her to go ahead and take the kids to school while I took care of the mess. And I told her, "You're gonna be driving the Marauder a while, Babe. Take good care of her."

So I'm back in my little red 'Stang until we can replace the Kia. It ain't no Marauder - but I'm not complaining!

Wow. Sorry about the damage but glad everybody is ok. Also glad she wasn't driving your Marauder at the time.

After that, you still sent the kids to school? When I have days only marginally as bad, I go back to bed.

But I am very glad to hear everyone was ok.

Two years into parenthood myself, so reading stuff like this really gets to me. You're a lucky man... time to sit back and be thankful, in whatever way you choose to. I'm infinitely relieved for you...

Yikes! Glad to hear everyone is all right!

I performed a similar maneouver with my 92 Suzuki Sidekick. I wasn't hurt bad, but the Suzuki was demolished.

Rub your wifes neck and shoulders tonight. They'll be sore tomorrow.

But like Mad said, I woulda just gone back to bed, that day was a write off...

Thanks for all the kind words.

Now, if I can only get my wife interested in an '04 DTR Marauder...

Hmmm

5 star Crash rating, with traction control. Side curtain airbags.

That's where I would start.

I'm glad to hear that you are OK for more than one reason. I have a Kia Sedona too (It's the dog's car. I call it the penalty box.) Kia advertises how tough the little beast is. I'm glad to hear that it is so. As long as everyone is OK you can get other cars.

Macon,

First of all...I'm glad to hear the family was safe.

On the bright side...wait till she drives it a few days, then comes to you and says "It needs a little more OOOOMPH"...perfect excuse to come up for the Tuning on the 15th!!!

Take care,

Yikes! That's a story I hope I never have to tell!

Bring her to the tune on Nov. 15th and she can see and drive an '04 DTR.

I'm glad your not less anything else. Cars are just hunks of metal. What you should do is get the 04 DTR and make it into the wagon. Now that would be nice.

glad the family is ok...easy to replace vehicles...but not loved ones...God protects even when we are unaware...man o man a 50' embankment...that's Duke of Hazard stuff...

You are blessed. Be aware that aches and pains won't show till tomorrow. Don't sign off on insurance until you are sure all is OK.

Sorry about the accident, I am also glad your family is alright. The KIA is one tough van with a five star rating.

I'm just happy everyone's ok.

You seen the new 04 Mercury Monterey in person? Think "Lincoln Minivan"... It's VERY impressive. Should be at your dealer's lot...

I'll be upgrading our 02 Mercury Villager into a Monterey in the Spring for the wifey as soon as Mercury delivers the two late-availability options I just gotta have (Heated & Air Conditioned Seats, and a Rear seat DVD system)... ;)

I have to make a correction. After visiting the crash site with my son to retrieve a few missing items, it turns out that the embankment wasn't 50 ft. More like 20 - 25 ft. Still pretty impressive IMO - but I wanted to set the record straight.

We've looked at the new Freestar and Monterey but my wife has too many bad memories of the 2 Windstars we had. I even suggested a mid-size SUV (can you say Aviator?). But wife wants another Kia. I can't really blame her.

Still waiting to hear from insurance, but I have a few quotes on a replacement. Trying to get her to go for one with leather, ABS, sun roof, etc. And she wants a spoiler on the thing this time. A mini van with a spolier?! I guess there's hope for her yet!

Everybody be safe out there.

The Freestar isn't the Windstar. Silly Ford for naming it so close

WOw! Just got to this thread/post--Glad to hear all is ok--

For a moment there--thought --Oh no! Not another MM down for the count---then further reading of course--well,,
I agree with others--time to push for another MM --and like was said earlier--wife may likely come in one day and just be so use to the MM she won't like anything less---wouldn't that be nice!!!

Keep us further posted on how things develope---Again--we are thankful for all being safe!!!.......Tom
