Folks, I need your input on the jacket....

I need to know if any of you bought your Marauder using a Ford Discount Plan, such as X, A, Z, etc. You won't believe this ********. But Mercury has apparently taken the position that if you used a plan to get a break on the car, then you are NOT entitled to a jacket. I personally used the X plan. I know of at least one person that used the A plan, and works for Ford, and had his jacket within 3 weeks of taking delivery on his Marauder.

So if you all could post a response indicating that you either did, or did not get a jacket using one of the plans, I would really appreciate it. My salesman can't believe they are saying that, and has been in touch with the dealers area rep, but you know how that can go.

My dealer didn't know anything about the jackets. so they finally pawned me off on the fulfillment house that handles L-M's promotional items, like the jacket...THEY told me the same as MI2QWK4U (X-Plan, no jacket). I asked for that in writing and they refused...said it had something to do with proprietary info... (can you spell S-C-A-M?) I shoved it right back at the dealer...

I would call the Natl. Cust. Service line 1-800 & do not mention the X plan just state your vin. no. . All the ads and hand out material mention a Jacket and your dealer should know about it -- The fullfillment people would not really know as they just fill orders ( in fact if any of you got a damaged jacket box as I did they will send you a new one to display at shows ) Keep asking and you will get your jacket.

Got a call from the dealer yesterday...he talked to the Zone rep and found out that, amazingly enough, I actually AM entitled to a jacket after all! He says that, originally, A-plan and X-plan purchasers were NOT entitled (again, no one ever told ME that), but that L-M must have gotten some "feedback" and changed their minds...r-i-i-i-ght...he says the card is in the mail...do I hear a wheel squeaking?

I got my MM on the X plan (the dealer "found" that I had a friend at Ford's, amazingly enough within arm reach to sign the paperwork when I picked up the car...). Nothing was said about the jacket not being part of the deal.

After several attempts I finally talked to a fellow at Beanstalk Group yesterday who informed me that (a) I was going to be eligible for the jacket and (b) Mercury has had so many complaints that they have decided to award jackets to all owners who purchased during the time period of the offer, even those who purchased under "plans".

Good move on Mercury's part.

WHAT time period are you talking about? The card that was in the brochure (that described the jacket) the dealer gave me said nothing about any time period.

All I can say is I had better get that jacket! It's only been a week and half since I took delivery, so I'm still being patient about not getting my "jacket order" card, but I'm starting to wonder...............

I took delivery of my Marauder on 10/10/2002, received my jacket order card about 10-14 days later, and just received my jacket yesterday. Elapse time frame was 35 days total. I had no problem or issues what so ever about getting the jacket, my dealership ensured me about the time frame and they were on the money. Good luck, the jacket is nice.

All A/X/Z Plan Marauder purchasers are eligible for the jacket through the 2003MY. A new communication was sent out 11/18/2002 to all Lincoln Mercury Dealers advising them of our eligiblity change.

Just came home from work to find my jacket on the stoop, man do I have a grin on!!! It is a damn nice jacket, the quality is certainly up there with a better mens store model.
To all: I am going to look into the possibilty of having a pair of embossing plates cut so the Gods head can be placed on the jacket.
I am planning on a 2.5" or 3" diam pattern. I will keep you all up-to-date. I have friends in the printing biz and they can produce plates capable of stamping light gage sheet metal, so this should be an easy plate-set to cut.

I also received my jacket order card in the mail Monday, two weeks after the pruchase. As I am a little on the large size, I called and asked about a larger size jacket. I was told there wouldn't be any problem. Man I wish Ford would have done that when I got the jacket for the '99 Cobra mess. They wouldn't budge on a larger jacket than what was on the card. Needless to say, I never wore it as it was a little small. Gave it to my 16 year old grandson last month.

MarauderTeam, we need to replace the Mercury wave on the car. Please, please, make the "God's Head" emblem!

Now if I can just get better radio reception. The embedded antenna is crap in my area. Sometime, it's the little things that count too! :(

I hammered a deal because I am fleet buyer. Did not use any plan! My Ford dealer has an L&M dealership and I went back and fourth the old fashion way. (must be sick,i enjoyed it) Any way way when the "card" arrived I saw it only went up to 2XL! I need a 5XLT. Called the people at the 800 number and they are making me a 5XLT! Hard to belive your having a problem! Go after the dealer!

I had a similar problem, getting mine through CitiCapital Fleet Leaseing. I talked to a gentleman named Allen Pinter at MM accessories. He instructed me to have my leasing rep talk to a Merc area rep who would then ok the jacket. # weeks later, I have mine.It helped that I have a fleet of 20 vehicles, but I told them that it should not matter how I obtained the car, I should get the leather!

My salesman called me today to tell me that for some reason, his area rep decided I was entitled to a jacket. He wouldn't elaborate when I asked why. No excuse or apology. I will tell you all this much, this forum is the best thing we all have as owners. It's hard to ******** a customer will a line of lies when I handed him a printout of this thread, and the dozens of responses conflicting with what he is saying. I gave him a copy of this thread a couple of days ago...and guess what... a phone call telling me I should have a card to fill out and reply within a week.....so we shall see.....let's just say I'm not holding my breath.

I think that if you don't get the card, the next step is to call them and inform them of what your dealer and whomever else is doing or not doing to assist you in this. Tell them that this was their promotion and that they need to uphold their part of the bargain. I'd also ask your dealership for the number to their regional office. And explain to them all the bs that you did NOT need to go through. Ask them if that's their concept of customer service. I would remind them of Ford's motto from a few years back, "Quality is Job 1" ask them how important good customer service is to them.

MI2QWK4U I ordered extra large and it fits comfortable, has extra room. I am 6'1" 210 lbs. 45" chest, 36 waist. I hope this helps.

Call the 800 number and ask if you could order a larger size. They said yes, and I stated on the card that "I request XXXL" and that's what they sent me. I'm 6' , 265#, with a 52" chest. The 3X fits great if not on the slightly large size. Plenty of room in it!

I know we were all just a little disappointed to have to arm wrestle with LM over their "promise" (I waited over a month for mine), but let's give them a break too? How the hell could they stage this promo in advance? Has to be 10,000 MMs out there by now, and every proud owner comes in a different size, a size not known in advance.

Sure, a few of us had problems, but all of us here, got our jackets too. Maybe Patton did march the 5th Army across Europe in record time, but they were lined up...

SergntMac: I am aware of the numbers of cars they are selling, but the problem I have now is they are not return phone call or answer e-mails. 2 months have gone by a no jacket, no answer, no customer service. I did not buy the car to get the jacket. They offered the jacket! Like I said before time to "stand and deliver" I also know my size is unusally large, (5XLT) I just wish they give me a time frame! Not much too much to ask for?

I used the Driver Edge both the Ford old dollars and the new Drivers Edge dollars. I got one taken from the sale price and a check in the mail for the other dollars. I got my jacket with hanger and bag today. It's great.

Processed the card about 4 months ago, no jacket to date, BUT, on a tip from Defyant, gave this guy a call, and he took care of me: Alan Pinter at 248-458-5122. He works for the promo company.

Make sure if you call him that you have your VIN number handy.

Just got off the phone with Pinter. He said they get monthly data from Mercury on who bought cars and that cues them to send you a jacket card in the mail. You return the card (with VIN) and they mail you the jacket. He said they have up to 2xl in stock and larger ones have to be special ordered and could take up to 12 weeks, but they will come. For me, Ill wait and get the right size. Very helpful guy on the phone, I got my car 10/2/04 and hopefully the card will get to my house soon to start this process.

No plan; but I maxed out on incentives. Got the card in 3 weeks and the jackets in 3 more (4 Oct purchase of an '03 MM to 20 November jacket). Neither the dealer nor the sales manager mentioned the jacket to me during the sale. I had to find out from the guy who drove it out front to me.

Personally, I would run this all the way to Mercury HQs if necessary and get Elena Ford (or whoever took her job) on the phone. This X-plan thing should not affect the entitlement to the jacket. It is :bs: Living up to promises is also known as good customer service ... L-M (or your local dealer) might need a refresher on this basic business practice.
