My hood will not open on the Marauder. There is absolutely NO tension in the release cable. It goes back and forth with the greatest of ease. This problem doesn't help my overheating problem either. Which is another issue all together.
Any help is appriciated.
And i really dont want to cut the hood.
Thanks.

damn man, thats a tough one. can you reach in through the grille with anything to pull the cable? maybe if worse comes to worse you can cut a few teeth from the grille.

Ya know I was thinking about this very thing yesterday and I'm going to put some sort of emergency pull wire on mine just in case!!:argue:
I think you can reach it from below but my intercooler is in the way for me!!:help:
Good Luck.....

tomorrow, im gonna jack the car up and see what i can manage from underneath.
Also, i can try and take off the hood latch assembly from the front. It's 5-6mm, so it may fit between the teeth. And i'll try a coat hanger from both side and see if i can win. I will update tomorrow.

Whenever mine has gotten stuck, I have to spray some WD-40 or PB Blaster on the mechanism from the hood crack and by the grill, then put down a piece of masking tape on the crack infront of the latch, have someone pull and hold the hood release then take a long thing flat tip screwdriver and pry it up. I keep the latch lubed twice or 3 times a month now with PB Blaster.
Hope you can get it open man!

I think you can get at the release lever from underneath. Other option is a long 1/4 inch extension & socket from the front.

Mine was stuck all summer before my dad realized that one of the plastic clips for the upper valence tray was stuck in the latch. But thats been like 3 months now.
Like i said, the release cable has zero tension. There's no "pop" like normal, of the hood latch relasing.
Thanks for the ideas guys, i'll let you know what works.

ps. i wanna get this open and fixed, so i can fix my overheating issues. And then hopefully hit the track this weekend with Babage.

Can you push down on the hood and get the latch to reset? Then you may have tension on the release and it just might work.

Ours goes wacky once in a while and won't open if the car is not on a level surface. It pops but doesn't spring up the inch you need to get your fingers in to finish the job. I use a wooden paint stick to pry it up then as said before wd-40 it up and it works for a while.

Mine does that too. I just push it a little and it goes. Or have someone push it down when I pull the lever.

Mine did it too. I went to a body shop they opened it from below. Also they adjusted the latch. The weight of the hood slamming down had move the adjustment some. Hope this helps you,

That's what I was thinking. Mayb e have someone in the car pulling on the release while someone pushes on the hood too???

Ryan your only solution to this problem is to sell your car. Get rid of it now before something else goes wrong.

And I'm in.
Giggity.
So, i found out how to open the hood when the latch fails and/or cable fails.
I feel that this information may pose a small security threat to our vehicles. So, if you want to know how, PM me. Or flame me and i'll post it up. either way, i won today.
What happened was, the arm that the cable attaches to was seized. I pulled back on the hood release. It pulled back like it was supposed to. The arm came back, but then stopped. All i had to do was push the arm back just a little bit, and the latch released.
So, i have doused it in PB blaster and will continue to do so on a 3 month basis. (According to other members here, that seems to work well for them ;). So i will follow suit.)
OK, im gonna go drive me car. :burnout:

White lithium grease will last longer.
Reach through the grille with a 10MM on a long extension and take out the 4 screws holding the latch.

Mine was sticking also. Just use a rag and screwdriver. The screwdriver will lift it open, but use the rag so you don't chip the paint. The dealer oiled the latch at no charge when I had my last service done.
