Well, the Marquis is dead........

Returning from school after class my car hit the dirt off the side of an on-ramp and made me lose control and hit the wall after approx. 200 ft. of skid across the highway. It snapped the front pass. rim and tire off of the rest of the wheel. dropped my rear exhaust on the pass. side, took out the whole front end jamming the front drivers door shut. Needs new front susp. possibly new rear axle. Not to mention all the sheet metal.....

Probably getting scrapped if I cant find enough parts to get it back on the road.

I'm fine, the car did it's job, no injuries whatsoever, nor any airbags going off, mostly pass. side impact damage.

Looking for a new Vic. or Marquis soon, relatively cheap ($2000 area or less)
in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh area preferrably...:(

Any donations are welcome.....

That's a real shame considering all the hard work and effort you've put into your Merc.

That said, it's great news that you're unharmed.

sorry to hear that glad your OK. I'm guessing you don't need a pillar in trim code h. If you still want the pillar great let me know what color. If not let me know I will send you a refund. I don't want to see you get stuck with something you don't need anymore.

I'm sorry to hear about this. You had that car done up nicely. I am also glad to hear that it protected you the way that it should. Keep me in mind on my other post.

Thanks everyone..... I'm still a bit shook up and hardly got any sleep over this...

I was on the on ramp and my a pillar gauge pod which I just installed using 3M 2 sided tape fell down and as I reached to stop it from falling my left front tire left the pavement and hit the dirt and just completely lost control and smacked the concrete wall.

I hope you can either make her as good as new again or at least find a good replacment for her so you can start again.

But most important is that your okay, I know it doesn't consol you in the loss but have to look at that at least.

GLAD you're OK at least; MOST important as others have said! BUMMER on HOW it happened! What a drag! Reminds us just how EASY these BAD things can happen; over something as simple as what you did/were doing when it happened! (I've had a few CLOSE CALLS myself doing this sort of thing...humbling and scary.)

Good luck getting her BACK on the road OR in your search for another Panther off here somewhere.

WOW I have never seen a wheel snap like that on all 5 points.

A shame it was a beautiful Merc.

damn man, what brand wheels are those? just so i know what NOT to buy. and what is in the one pic of the trunk? i cant make it out

SVT_MERC
10-14-2009, 12:19 PM
I don't know what brand the wheels were, but you got to realize that both of those pass. side wheels both smacked the wall sliding sideways that is why they broke. Over 4,000 lbs of steel sliding probably close to 35-40 MPH sideways into a wall not much of anything isn't going to break, ecpecially since the wheels are cast aluminum, not forged or billet.

As for the trunk, not sure what you are asking about. On the rear shelf you can see the trunk bracing is buckled. On it is the plastic from under the drivers side dash, and the wiring for the amp I had in there.
On the floor, it was buckled and there were 4 cans of undercoating that exploded in the impact.

ImpalaSlayer

yeah it was the cans of undercoating i saw. how the hell did they blow up???

SVT_MERC
10-14-2009, 12:39 PM
well 2 of them blew up, meaning the valve/nozzles broke off, I had a ton of tools in the trunk and I guess something hit two of the cans just right in the impact to pop the tops off of them and leave a bunch of liquid rubber all over.

A shame it was a beautiful Merc.

Agreed. It was certainly unique.

What happened to you was something that could have happened to any of us.

At least you're unharmed.

Another testimonial to the safety of the panther platform glad you were able to walk away. Please tell me you had full coverage and there going to cut you a nice check. You know this is a buyers market and Marauders are coming down in price:poke:
