I have been through 4 or 5 seat back skins since I got the car due to the finish wearing off the embossed God's Head (see photo).....Grrrrrrr!!!:argue:: mad2:

Is there anything that can be applied to protect the embossing from wearing??

You folks with dark interiors probably don't notice this but it bugs me and I've tried all kinds of protectants with ZERO luck!!:mad2:

I have one more new seat skin but don't want to put it on until I can figger this out.....:shake:

BTW, these skins are VERY, VERY SCARCE now!!:help:

I was thinking maybe some clear film like the 3M stuff used to protect paint from stone chips!!??

These skins were expensive and now.....GONE!!:argue:

Is that a problem with the light flint leather?
I haven't seen it on any other Marauder...:dunno:
Maybe some high mileage owners can chime in on the condition of their embossed seats.

You aren't wearing steel wool sweaters are you?

Do you wear sandpaper shirts???
I've never seen that before.

I would just have that seat re-colored and save the new ones. A good top shop should be able to fix it.

The wife has light flint in her MM with 115k and the emblems are clear as day. I'm with everyone else on this, maybe its coarse backhair?

Jack mine looks the same. Light flint sucks and so does the gods head. I wish this was a ford and not a merc.

I had one colored and the stuff got very sticky in time ......probably due to Meguiare's leather cleaner/preservative?? Removed the dye and got a new skin under warranty.....same thing happened in 6 months...UGH!!:argue::mad2:

No steel wool shirt and no back hair...the finish just wears off!!:shake:

I wish they hadn't put the embossing on at all!!

I expect the dark seats do it too but the contrast isn't there like with the light flint!!

I'll check with an auto upholsterer and see if there is a film that can be applied to protect it!!??:help:

Thanks for the replies!!

Are you releasing any caustic gases when you drive?

You know ,maybe change teh way you get in an out of the seat. I trained myself to get in and out in a way that puts minimal wear on the leather. I have near 100K on mine with no visible wear marks anywhere.

Just a thought.

Do you dig your shoulder in when you jump in? Push wiht your elbow on the way out?

Something to consider... I know you have been through a lot of these.

I have gotten in and out of cars for MANY years and this is the first that has shown any wear....I honestly don't know what the problem is....but MAYBE IT'S THE NUDO wearing off....whatever the HELL that is!!??:help::confused:
