Just came back from the SEMA show and Ford had a version of the 03 MM there. A Supercharged S55 Marauder. Mechanically, same motor with a Roush/Eaton supercharger that creates 5lb boost. and supposedly produces 345HP & 345 ft-lbs, a Visteon 3.27 limited-slip axle, Roush calibrated and upgraded 4R tranny, traction control, etc.
There were a lot of little exterior and interior modifications that really set the car up nice, ie, moonroof, signal mirrors, Mercury Gods-head badging, 2-tone seats, fuel door, black chrome finish wheels amongst others.
The Mercury Rep said there were no plans to offer this combo, but he did instruct me to go on the Mercury website and leave feedback in their suggestion box. But I did get the impression he was trying to drum up interest. Hey, you never know. Also, on the flyer I recieved from him, it lists the Ford Media site at www.media.ford.com or 1-800-665-1515.

If I had to guess, the reason there are 3.27's in there would be to offset the increased power output with gas mileage.
In other words, to get the gas mileage required so as not to be nailed with the gas guzzler tax, they lowered the gear ratio.
Personally, while I can see the point and the reason for doing it, It costs 6-700 to replace the gears, I'd prefer they just gear it properly in the first place and fine, I'll pay the gas guzzler tax... yeesh...

I posted pics of the S55 in the photogallery, couldn't get them here.
Looks kind of hacked together.

I want to start with the polished cam covers, please.
Next a CARB aproved S/C kit with full factory warrenty under $3300.
Then the big brakes, hold the wheels I like the stockers better.
I also like the S55 badging.
mensrea,
I must say I like the pics of your KB engine better! Although, I DO like the Baer Brakes (would probable go with black calipers, though)

I got the polished calipers. I will post my pics this weekend!
I want to see those! KB's pics didn't show any close-ups of the brakes or the P Zeros...

One: Why is there Chrysler ORANGE on our Ford product?!?!
Two: I'll keep my rims, thank you!
Three: All that and they STILL can't put a decent air tube on it? Sad...
All in all, still wouldn't mind having it in my MM though... :D

I think Mercury engines used to be red back in the early 60's.

Wow. That S55 looks great. The red SUPER MARAUDER theme goes back to the 60s cars. Man, I'd love to have one of those Eaton's on mine along with those matching valve covers.
I'd make the S55 badging BLACK however as well as the calipers.
I'd want an inter/aftercooler set up on mine though... and 8 lbs boost. :)

P.S. Mensrea, your's is beautiful too. (And probably alot quicker) But
I'm a sucker for nostalgia.

At one time Mercury offered stuff like that "over the counter" maybe that is part of their plan with this?

Someone at Ford is looking to the correct direction with this concept car.
I would add the new 5.0L DOHC 4V "Cammer" Engine (http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id =13573) with a water-to-air intercooled Eaton and headers. Oh yea, Metal Matrix Composite driveshaft and a 3.55 limited slip rear (or a fifth gear), rear mounted battery. This would make both the low-end torque needed and have acceleration.

Jeeze, what a dumb idea. A Marauder with a supercharger? Stupid. That would never work. No one would want or buy one. this is why you never want engineers doing marketing. Cripes they next thing those bozos will want to do is crank up the boost. Dennis

Agreed. If you tried to put that much power through that drive train you'd just fry off the tires anyways. I'm not even sure why they make rear wheel drive cars anymore. Just a waste.
