I have access to a 1998 Mark8 engine it runs. Is this the one with the good block? I'm only looking at it for the block to build a forged bottom end the asking price is 350 bucks. good deal? thanks Seneca

Also anyone know what trans is in the Mark8? thanks in advance

yeah they have the tesked blocks. really they block isnt or weak point. fordnut has a regular alum block forsale.

$350 is a good deal. You can disassemble it and sell the heads for at least $200. The timing cover is worth $100.

I believe it's a 4r70 trans but it's an early model and lots of factory updates have been made since then. It would be a good case to send in for a rebuild or use for a core, though.

Jump on it, those are the Teksid blocks and yes the Mark 8 had a 4r70W grab that if the deal is good too a spare never hurts.

thanks again for the help and advice guys. If everything goes well i'll be pulling the engine this weekend. Maybe taking the trans too if the price is right.

Sounds like you got a good deal man. A teksid block with a forged bottom manley rods and some good pistons you will have a killer motor...

Teksid blocks also known as "thick skin", very good motors for going bigger displacement.

Just make sure you take it to a machine shop that is experienced with aluminum blocks.
