Hello, I've been thinking about buying a MM or a plain old Grand Marquis Ultimate. The Grand Marquis have an option in the 2006 models that is called "laminated glass". When I'm looking at a GM, how do I know if it has this option and is there a place where I can have my car "decoded" before
I buy it using the VIN ?
I know you Panther lovers must have a source.
I want a GM because I can make it look like a MM and do engine mods if I get the time and money.

I believe it is stated on the glass itself. It is only for the windows that roll down. The MM never had this option. It was available on the 2004 through 2006 GM and CV, inc CVPI.

And hope you never have to replace one, front door glass is $600+ per door. It is stated on the glass that it is laminated, and, it is just a tad thicker.

Anybody know if the laminated glass would fit on a MM?
It should cut down a bit more of the noise (wind mostly, I'd guess) with the laminated glass.
At $600 per window, though, it would be a high cost to benefit ratio.

Speaking of replacing $600 laminated glass, has anyone ever bought or used an extended warranty? This is something I'm thinking about getting since repairs are sooooo... EXPENSIVE! I'm not thinking of buying one of those that the sales manager tries to sell you when you are closing the deal, but it seems that I should get something. Does anyone know about CarChex. People are telling me that they are a good company. Just kinda scary when a broken whatzit can set you back thousands.

The only extended warranty I would buy would be the Ford Premium care warranty.
As far as the glass goes, a buddy of mine has a LX Sport with it, the tint shop managed to break the right front and had to replace it. $600 was the cost to the dealer, I do not have a clue what the tint shop paid. My buddy is pals with the dealership that ordered the glass from Ford, they told him how much their cost was after the tint shop broke the 2nd one that they tried to install.

Buy the MARAUDER!
Agree totally. I had a Ford LX Sport before the Marauder and a Crown Vic, but then had to have a MM. You can find one cheap enough. I never heard about the laminated glass either.

Is the laminated glass the same as "Break-Resistant Glass", which is listed on my '07 CV window sticker?

You'd have to replace most of a GM to make it a Marauder. Get the real deal!

600$ somebody ripped you off sorry to say maybe from dealer and dealer installed. I went t o a local glass place and got the exact replacement door glass for 160 installed only differance was that the glass didnt say the ford stuff on it. same company that ford uses same part number as well. just saying that I would never have paid 600$
