Marty ran a blazing 9.6 (his best time of the day) and then captured the Big Dog title running with Sherman. Sherman and Steve S. ran 10.4s. Merc also ran very well in the classes. I will post the videos of the runs tomorrow. First time ever for a MM Big Dog. Impala dominance is OVER. I believe their fastest car was a 10.5. It was Marauders all day long. A beautiful day with ideal conditions.

I ran my personal best of 11.801 and 11.807 at 117 mph.

I am sure videos and pictures will be posted tonight when more guys get home. One sad note a Trilogy Marauder threw a rod.

No. The seat did not go back far enough for me to be able to drive it safely.

John showed everyone how it was done though!!!!!

In case you are curious, that car is BEAUTIFUL!

A nice quote off the Impala site:

My .02- The 9 second Marauder was awesome, once it finally got down the track. Gremlins attacked it a few times, but once it got down, it roared. Sounded like it had a jet engine.

I wish Big John was there. Would have balanced things out real nice.

My day like many others was a struggle to find traction. My 3 year old set of Mickey Thompson ET streets were not up to the task. From 13 pounds of air to 17 lbs nothing was working. The first run I almost crossed the center line and was wobbling badly. The engine sputter out of the hole and the E/T was in the upper 13's. The second run showed some improvements. I couldn't find a dial-in time because my ET's were all over the place and reaction time was ridiculous.

When the first round of elimination begin for the C class I spun badly at the 330 and almost crossed the center line again, thank God for the 25 dollar buy backs. Now I was pissed and had to figure out how to win with what I had. The next round I found my dial-in and reaction time. Although the track was still a challenge I raised the air pressure and sacrificed some fractions in my sixty foot time for more stability. I ripped off 3 great reaction times in a row, .037 .051 & .047 to stay in the game. I made it to the C class finals and was eliminated because I spun out of the hole and could not recover the lost time. Second place was a great achievement considering how poorly the day started out.

I will let Chris Vining tell his story. He cut some monster fractions on the Pro Tree and overcome a fuel delivery issue. On the other hand Jeff and Martyo had to deal with some interesting issues while making marauder history. To see Chris and Marty in the Big Dog finals was a dream come true.

The C.A.M. Team took home 2 trophies at the end of the day, but not everyone had fun. One Trilogy Marauder lost a engine and 4 Impala's had to be removed from the track.

It was Gary, not sure of a screen name. He's from Florida, came up for the event and staying a few days for some professional training in ATL. Really feel sorry for his misfortune, he has only had it a couple of months and it was a real cherry of a car.

He hot lapped it one time too many and it put a rod thru the block. It has the original version Trilogy kit without the IAT relocation or the FRPS boost-referenced mod to vacuum connections.

At dinner he was talking about putting a stock engine back in it and getting rid of the Trilogy kit, he's pretty disappointed right now.

Maybe some of the SSM guys have a spare engine or short block laying around...

Guys -
This was an absolutely beautiful day. Met a good many Marauder owners for the first time (lots of FL folks made the trek) With the exception of Gary from FL throwing a rod through is block, it was an awesome day.
Records dropped and the torch was passed to the new King of the Hill MartyO. BTW: Marty's Marauder sounds like a machine out of the Matrix movies (was at the scales with Whiteknuckles and Glassman99 when it came through a few times snorting and bucking).
Things ran really smooth thanks to alot of effort from Mike S (owner of "The Mark") our friends from GASSIT, and the great crew of Volunteers.
Brian Sipe did a great job with the shirts again this year as well.

There were GTO's, Caddy V-Series + others, SRT's, Hemi's, CV's, Lincolns, trucks and of course Marauders and Impala's of all setups..... Run all day had some dragsters, and John Kuhn's beatiful T-Bolt putting on a show.
I am happy to say my first formal runs in a Trilogy Marauder down the 1/4were not dissapointing.
Made 2 out of my 4 passes in the 12.7's- tripped the lights on both
(missing one slip) but the competition was not all that important to me. just wanted to see what I could do.........
The one I have (which was the worst of the 2):
R/T -082
60' 1.794
330 5.274
1/8 8.147
MPH 85.78 MPH
1000 10.655
1/4 12.765
MPH 107.11
The other slip I know I hit 108 MPH, but cannot remember the details other than that.

What I can tell you is the race was against TAF.

What I can also tell you is that TAF and I have put our respective issues behind us. We spent a good amount of time together during the day, and at dinner (Thanks again TAF:up:) with Hotrauder and his boss:lol: Sherm and his son, SC Cheesehead, Merc and his wonderful bride, and a fine Gentleman from NC, that I meet every year @ SSHS and never get his name......

TAF and I both agree that life is too short to let this "car thing" get out of proportion with the rest of our lives. TAF knows not all my friends will be his, and likewise not all his friends will like/get along with me, but in the end whats the big deal.

Todd did not ask me, nor did I tell him I was going to post this. I am guessing TAF will not come back to MM.net even if offered, so I won't make that suggestion (Like I did on MCM) I do know, that life is too short for BS to consume it. SSHS teaches me this every year.

Thank you for considering this perspecitive.:burnout:

With MN12 t bird quarter glass FTW!

Good seeing everyone again and meeting some new folks.

I had a blast running in the Big Dog class this year! We whipped up on the them impalas. And it was a perfect final.:burnout::beer:

Tried to make a showing in the D bracket, but a BAP fuse blew during/after the burnout and the car would barelly run. I stagged the bad dog brought it up on the 2 step and gave it my all on the light, the car reacted but wouldn't run after that. Only if it would have somewhat run, cause I killed that dodge on the tree with a .011 light to his .35x. Ohh well theres next time. We found the problem too late to make it back up for the buy back round.:(

This was the first time for me to make the event. I had tickets to it several years ago and had planned to bring my "Green Kitty" 96 Cougar down but was unable to make it and gave it to someone else. Since that time with the changes my car won't make weight with the 4.6 2V, so I've not tried to come since.

Regardless of all that, to all that organized and ran this event you did an outstanding job! Period! There were many excellent cars here from both sides of the fences.

It only goes to say that I had a great time meeting everyone, putting faces with forum names and the like. Sorry I didn't have time to meet more of you. There were certainly a bunch of outstanding people here that I met, not just cars.

Glenn, I'm glad you got some of the bugs worked out of yours. Get that rear fixed and try to get some more runs before winter.

To my guys that frequent the MAMN12 Forums, shows and races, (Team Sherminator, Merc, and Driller) great job by all you guys this year. Chris, your driving skills and sportsmanship was absolutely awesome Saturday.

Martyo and team, thats one sweet race car you got there. It was awesome getting the chance to watch it run. A great final for two great Marauders.

The T-Bolt brought back a lot of memories for me. Glad you brought it down Pops.

Again, just an awesome event. I hope I can make it back down next year and maybe with my car.

What a great show! Thanks to all the volunteers and those who spent many hours behind the scenes to make this happen. It was one of the best rounded events I have ever seen.

A special thanks to the management of this site. Without sponsors like MercuryMaraudar.Net this event would never survive.

We had two catastrophic and one tow truck that came uncranked, an otherwise safe clean racing day. I am still getting questions about the “dead deer on the track” remark. lol

Next year I will have the total package numbers available for the King of the Hill race off and I think we need to keep the 10.9 Street Class alive. Any suggestions on how to better the event are always most welcome.

Thanks again

Well since I was directly across from you in the opposite lane in the Big Dog finals, I'd say due to your size you likely have way more hp, but I may have the power to weight advantage & less rotational weight and more aerodynamic (less Hair & lower to the ground). You'd probably have that top end push due to my age disadvantage so it would be fun! LOL
