My friends shop is having a Dyno Day with Tim from EFI Solutions. Tim makes programs to tune you car via a reflash of the stock computer rather than a chip. You can have the tuner save your original factory tune in his computer and it you need to go in for service he can reflash your computer back to stock. The computer is never removed from the car so the dealer will never know. The best part is the tune is about $200.00 cheaper because you're not buying a chip. RAY:cool:

Ray,
If I am understanding this, he is flashing the PCM/EEC with some custom programming but to return it to stock (and presumably back to 'tuned') he has to use *his* computer to do it?

EFI SOLUTIONS "As for the parmeters that we can control yes there is some things that most nobody will figure out but I have figured out I'd guess and say about 95% and the other 5% I realy don't care about. That 5% would be like obdii diag. stuff, which you really don't need to play with."
I believe the Superchips Micro Tuner can only install two or three programs. EFI Solutions can reflash 95% of the values.

Gonzo50,
I am going to stick my neck out here and I am sure if I am wrong it'll get straightened out with a quickness.
If you are saying that they use a SuperChips Micro Tuner to program the PCM/EEC, I am pretty sure they can't. The tuner is locked in to a single car. This would mean that EFI Solutions would have to have a SuperChips Tuner for every car they program.
DR and Jerry (FordChips?) can also put the programming directly into the PCM/EEC (like TheDealer says EFI Solutions does) *or* onto an add-on chip.
Most opt for the add-on chip because your dealer can reflash over your "modded" PCM/EEC program during a routine visit.
Naturally, if you live somewhere near a tuner and they offer to reflash you free or for a nominal fee in the event the dealer flashes over the "modded" programming, that would be pleasant.
I am at that place now where I want a chip mod but have to choose between chip or flash. I've postponed that decision until the "ticking" noise is resolved in my engine.

New Tuning software for Ford products (http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?threadid=311)
SuperChps Custom Tuning (http://www.superchipscustom.com/)
For about $800 you can have all the parameters to tune your EEC at home with the "pro racer package" Dennis said he'll have them available as well I think.
