Bought a set of Hella 500 driving lights today ($20 at Advance Auto Parts). I plan on mounting them behind the grill, but I'm a little concerned about blocking the airflow. These guys are 6.5" in dia. Being driving lights they need to be mounted high, but I don't want them mounted on the bumper ala rally car style. I am open to comments and suggestions. Thanks y'all!

Wow that was quick offroadkarter. After checking CVN I am no longer concerned as folks have used the same lights with no problems. In reply to blackbeauty , I admit it will look a little funky but I really need the light at times as I don't see as well as I did when I was a young man. Thanks guys!

You'd probably get more usable light from a good HID light upgrade than driving lights behind the grille...and keep stock appearance.

No way OEM lights even with HID's will keep up with 500's. I had a set on my explorer, they rocked the night into day.

I still want to see a pic of this setup? I am picturing like the mustangs that have the driving lights in the middle? I don't want to be that poor person coming at you in the other lane at night who can't see!

Yeah, I can't wait to finish this project. Found an easy place to mount them however I can't pendant mount them because of the way the lens assy. fits to the rear part. Most of the Hellas you can rotate the lens. Not these, so now it looks like cogitating is in order.
And no way I'll flash these at anyone or leave them on like everyone here in PB does with their fog lights.
Had some Lucas driving lights years ago, wondered how far they would pick up a reflective sign, measured it out on Morris Bridge Rd. 4000'. Yes really. Couldn't see a dog that far but I could see a car's tailights on the shoulder and avoided a few tickets that way. I'll keep you posted, thanks for the comments.

Upon the input/ advice of a member I am shelving this somewhat poorly thought out idea. However all is not lost as my generator has a 12v output and these babies will really light up the place after our next hurricane. We always lose power for 2 weeks, make it easy to spot those pesky looters. Might be a good time to clean the 700 too. Thanks guys for your inputs.
