my 03 with 40,000 miles has had the fuel pump stop working,just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how much to fix? my mechanic telling $750 sounds crazy high to me

uhhh that sounds very high. its not that hard to do. took me about an hour to swap my pump. sounds like it failed pretty eary but the good news is theres plenty of used ones around from people putting superchargers on. i have one if you want it, its yours.

That seems to be the going rate. That is what I was quoted by the Ford dealer in GA before deciding to do it myself.

The high cost is because the labor/repair manuels call for dropping the tank. However, one can change the pump without doing that but it's very close in work.

I know it's talking about a GT-40 pump but it's the removal and installation your looking for.

My son, the Honda mech, changed mine in about an hour with the car on jack stands, laying on his back, would be a lot easier if you have access to a lift.

I think you can do better, cost wise, if you copy the instructions and find a willing mech or do it yourself.
