Hi all, I'm not sure if it is correct to just pop up on a subject without prior introduction so, My name is Erich and I live 2 blocks outside of Chicago. I have owned a 2004 Silver Birch since '05 and I have been a "lurker" here since then while managing to only post twice! Guess I'm not what you would call out going. I do visit everyday and find the site to be a wealth of knowledge and entertainment.
Anyhow, back when Illinois switched over to the "pick a plate" system using the web I figured a lot of people were going to come up with clever ideas fast and I would be out of luck. I tried all kinds of things using variations on "Marauder" but nothing looked right or it was already taken. I came up with QWK AG HG and it was accepted!
Very few people figure it out without help and some don't get it when even when you explain it to them! You can see it as my avatar.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I like your plates too!

How do you find out what plates are available?

It depends on your state - Virginia allows you to try out different combinations to see if they are a 'go.' AFAIK, when I lived in Illinois, you put your request in and waited for them to tell you it was taken in about 6 months. That may be different now.

In NC , the state has their own web page and you can sign into the DMV area and on their personalized plate section you can type in what you want and it will tell you immediately if its available--from off their computer --really neat!
You may do a check of your state for the same feature--it may be there --and not advertised.
