Look again, there were none with no radio, the Audiopile was the regular equipment radio, there were no optional radios or other choices other than the optional cd changer in the trunk, but somehow a black got out according to the numbers with a cheaper ("standard") radio.

I'm no mathologist, but I think my geriatric friend is pointing out that there were 328 DBP. If you add the 71 (Std radio) to the 256 (optional radio) = 327. Hence, the one without the radio....:P

Hi gang,
Got a packet for BOTH the 03 and the 04, but NEITHER had any other sheet in the pkg with option, color combo breakouts.
Here is what is with each order -- 3 sheets of paper :
1. FPG Letter -- "Dear 2003 M.. M... Owner ...." unsigned
2. Mercury Marauder Certif -- with "The Ford Performance Group certifies that VIN ... is limited edition, assembled ...This is vehicle #7500 of a build of 7838 and is #282 of 328 manufacturedd in Dark Blue Pearl. S/ Edsel B. Ford II"
3. 2003/04 Mercury Marauder VIN Decoder
That's all. Sounds like a call to FPG is in order.
??? Question: Has any '04 owner received the 2004 Stats/Options Sheet????

If you have ordered and received your MM Certif. of Auth from Ford Perf Group and DID NOT get an Option Breakout sheet for your MM model year, call them back and request an Option Breakout Sheet for your model year. They should have sent you one in your packet. In my case, I should have received one sheet for 2003 and one sheet for 2004. I just got off the phone with FPG and they said that they will send them to me.
The Options and Build Sequence info is highly sought out and documented in Corvette circles. Glad to see that Ford has gathered the info for us and made it available.

The '04 sheet does NOT show moonroof breakdown. Also, it's interesting that in the VIN decoder sent with the package they ignore the moonroof-destined cars that start with MHHM instead of MEHM. It's my understanding that the moonroofs were installed after the factory at a third party but before the dealer got them. It would be nice to have that breakdown. All I have heard is that I am 1 of 2000 without the option in 2004.

Oughta be fairly easy for FPG to check out the MEHM vs MHHM differences and give that info on the 2004 breakout. So, which 2004 owner is gonna make the call to FPG?
Rockettman
11-30-2009, 08:43 AM
After calling Ford - here's the scoop on the Sunroof Option not being listed on the sheet.
"The information was listed as per what the MotorCityMarauders members asked Ford to list on the breakdown sheet".
Apparently if we go to the MotorCityMarauders site, we should be able to pull that info off there as well.
So basically that info about the sunroof option will not be on the sheets. It wasn't missed; it wasn't asked for.

Oops !!! :o Seems an option that warrants its own VIN digit should have been included in the breakout numbers. No brainer. If it was inadvertantly overlooked by MCM, FPG should have pointed out the faux pas and included it anyway.

He did put me on hold for a while and asked other people there. He could not figure out either why Ford didn't have it on the sheet if it was a factory option. He did investigate if it was a "group option" (order heated seats and get a sunroof type thing), but I told him what options my car had, and it was determined that this wasn't the case. Another partial explaination was that this certificate was usually only done for SVT and the like cars, and this was a special request for these cars. Hence some of the re-mailed certificates with errored info.
Not the answer we wanted, but he was very helpful all the same.
jonroe
11-30-2009, 09:57 AM
Yes, really, a VIN digit goes ignored by Ford - that's pretty weak. I would not count this against MCM. They probably thought it was a no brainer that Ford would handle the MHHM ones. Can Ford get us the info anyway even if not on the sheet so we have it?

Could be related to how Ford Performance Group (FPG) treated the first 3 VIN digits in the VIN decoder that came in my packet.
It says that "2ME" means Ford Motor Company of Canada.
I suspect that the 2004 owners got a VIN decoder that says "2MH" is Ford Motor Company of Canada.
My VIN understanding is that "2" is Canada and "M" is Mercury. The 3rd digit is not related to the location at all.
That "H" in the 3rd position means Moon Roof. Not sure what the "E" is ..... maybe No Moon Roof. :dunno:
Either way, FPG could have done a better job on the first three VIN digits and the moonroof would not have slipped through the cracks. JMHO.
.... and YES for $45 bucks, I expected it to be correct. :D
jonroe
12-04-2009, 06:39 AM
Charlie,
Actually, I think the H in 2MH means that the car left the factory "unfinished" on its way to the moon roof installer. I don't think it means moon roof specifically but just "unfinished". I saw that somewhere in a VIN decoder on line.
See: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Numbers _%28VIN_codes%29/Ford/VIN_Codes#Ford_WMIs
2MH = Mercury incomplete vehicle.

Just to add to the curiosity of the posts before. The discussion above related to the Standard Audio with 6 Disk Changer. There were only 3 of those combinations made (1 in 2003 and 2 in 2004). There were lots of Audiophile Systems with the 6 CD changer combinations. About 80% of MMs came with the Audiophile with 6 CD changer (6286 in 2003 and 2514 in 2004). That's 8,800 out of the total of 11,052 produced (79.6%).

Just received word from one of the other members (Hwy73 from a "Marti Report") that there were 1,212 moonroof cars in the 2004 MM production. No further breakdown. That means that about 38% of MMs in 2004 had the "2MHHM" VIN identifier for a moonroof/incomplete vehicle.
So, only about 11% of the total production came with moonroofs.
If the moonroofs were spread "evenly" across the '04 color & interior combos, here's what the numbers would look like .....
2004 Black MM with Dark Charcoal -- 1,081 produced (408 with moonroof)
2004 Black MM with Light Flint-- 156 produced (59 with moonroof)
2004 Silver MM with Dark Charcoal -- 534 produced (201 with moonroof)
2004 Silver MM with Light Flint -- 463 produced (175 with moonroof)
2004 DTR MM with Dark Charcoal -- 574 produced (216 with moonroof)
2004 DTR MM with Light Flint -- 406 produced (153 with moonroof)
2004 MM -- 3,214 produced (1,212 with moonroof)
