K&N has decided not to make a CAK for the sloted maf that is used on the 05 and up CV, a friend bought a 03 K&N not realizing that the maf has changed, so he called me, and here is what I came up with for him, and he says the car sounds great and runs perfect. I will do a before and after dyno test if I get a donor car here in Jacksonville.

why did he put a CAI on a 05 PI? The MM style airbox is already really unrestrictive, and you know how many MM.net members swear by the airbox

Because the MAB is the old style maf that will require a adapter to go from the old style maf to connector the the new style slotted maf connection, and then you have to buy the marauder air box or maf then the adapter or cut and splice along with the cost of the K&N this way he keeps his own maf in the 95 MM tube this should increase air flow but as I said I would like to see before and after dyno #'s I told him to data log and check his STFT.

no no, you didnt read my post
04+ CVPI's come with the marauder STYLE airbox, and the 80mm new MAF, which already bumps them up to 250hp...
but whatever, i'll keep posted for the before and after dyno results

It was probably a P74 (?)

Offroadkarter I think you are the one that did not read the post, I am just posting what I know, this is not in any way meant to be argumentative. I said 05 and up. I am fully aware a 04 has the older Maf and the MAB or Maf is a excellent upgrade, I was the one the first to recommend MAB on the CV platform and the correct MAF transfer function to go along with this. Again to use a MAB or Maf on a 05 is totally different than a 04. As you can see below it takes a adapter that cost 35.00 to connect a Marauder Maf to a 05 slotted OEM plug. And a normal CVPI makes about 230 RWHP I have not seen a 20 RWHP gain on the dyno with just a Maf change.

I am fully aware that the MAF in a 04 marauder is different, but the MAF change for Crown victoria police interceptors started in 2004, along with the marauder style airbox, which this 2005 CVPI came standard with. 2004 P70/P72/P73/P74's still had the 70MM maf like all 2003's and under had.
2004+ CVPI's come with 250 CRANK horsepower, and i've never seen a stock crown victoria, which has 239 crank horsepower, dyno in at 230rwhp.... Hell theirs a P73 from pennsylvania with a marauder airbox, 80MM MAF, dual exhaust and some other bolt on's, and on 93 octane he dyno'd 209rwhp
I'm just curious (just curious is all, not picking a fight) why he felt the need to replace a already good intake with the K&N, and i'll keep posted to see if their is any rwhp gain (which im sure their will be in the upper range)
And you should let the owner of the car know that he can sell his stock airbox and intake tube on CVN very easily.
Oh yes, the "20rwhp" gain mostly has to do with a retune if your adding a marauder airbox + maf to a -03 panther, because just throwing it on by itself causes the car to run lean... its not just the MAF or airbox itself :)

Yes and that is why I said its not meant to be argumentative, since posts are constantly misinterpreted as argumentative, and this was not meant to be so please do not take it that way, and I have 2 06 at my shop now and stock 06 on a Dynojet dyno never made 250 RWHP on regular gas with no CAK or a tune, and I had a 08 here last year, but the 06 will be at the 430 when it leaves here in two weeks. As the 08 did last year.

Ryan is right on this. All 2004 and newer Police Interceptors have 80 mm MAF and airbox which is same as the Marauder in terms of air transfer. The only difference is the MAF design. Marauders have the old style MAF as opposed to PIs that have the new cartridge style.

Well thats because they dont make 250rwhp, if they did, they'd be as fast as marauders and our cars would be pointless

Here is what you also have to use if you want to convert from a 05 and up slotted maf to a 04 and older car, now no one that I know of sells this in reverse except for Diablo and that is a maf extender, but this is not needed in a N/A car, but in the case here is what I tried to carefully explain is, this man has a 05 CV and had a 03 K&N CAK. The 05 CV IS a slotted maf and K&N does not sell a tube that will allow you to bolt in your OEM slotted maf, again the Marauder air box and maf is a good up grade for the 04 and older CV, the newer CV maf is also a very good maf even in a S/C applications if used with a maf extender. But to use a Marauder air box or maf on a 05 and up you will have to cut the OEM wires splice in the older style plug, or buy a Diablo maf extender and set it on 0. That is to expensive, and really not needed, with the new style mafs they work great in a blow though or suck through configuration on many N/A and S/C platforms. I hope every one has a good weekend.
