The guy I am thinking about using for my dyno tune is saying that I need to buy the software so he can tune my car. Supposedly every year the computer code changes on the car and new software is needed. The charge is $100.00 for the software. Has anyone heard anything about this?

That sounds shady. Do you have to buy the dyno and rent a shop out for him to tune your car too? Don't forget to hire a taxi so he can get to work that day.

Is your SCT locked? If so thats what the charge is for. I bought mine through Lidio and was locked; they charged me $100 to get the unlocked tunning software for the xcal....or they just got another 100.00 bucks out of me...LOL

You need to run for the hill and find another tuner!

If your tuner has the dealer version software, he should have just about every computer code covered.

I think they just got another $100 out of you.

When the tune file is transfered to the Xcal from the computer that was used to write the tune, it doesn't take anything extra to have the user adjustability unlock. They can adjust limits on the adjustability so that you can't go crazy and give it too much timing or something.

FDH2 is my computer code. It sounds like bs to me, but everything I have read about this guy he seems to be one of the best tuners on the island. Maby ill ask him if I buy the software do I get commission on any of the other cars he uses it for.

Yeah...I had some questionable hours there that was debated and settled. There was a reason I wanted to see if I even needed a base tune from them....long story short I will be tuning the car at the premier tuner in Ncal. I should have brought to them in the first place but shoulda coulda woulda....what can I say.
