Has anyone ever programmed their MM upper console to their garage door? I have a manual that I downloaded but the instructions don't seem to work. The console in the instructions looks a bit different then mine, but I tried it anyway with no luck. Any tips?
Thanks

I followed my owner's manual step-by-step with no issue. It worked the first time.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Are you sure if your opener has rolling codes or not? I always have to follow the extra steps to get mine to work (having someone press the button on the garage door opener itself while i press the button inside the car).

Press my middle button right?
The instructions mention something about it stating something about searching or programming? on the console itself. I press the middle button and hold it in for 20 secs but it never changes from the compass.

I just did mine. The first step was to hold the two outside buttons until the redligbt flashed. I never had to press the center button.

Mine worked after I hit the learn button on my garage door opener itself.

If you follow the owner's manual instructions it will work every time.

I get the impression he doesn't have the original owner's manual. He mentioned something about downloading one.

I remember that the timing was tricky - had to have ladder under the garage door opener motor, press the program button on the motor, then jump down real quick to perform the steps inside the car. Be sure to read the garage door opener's manual in addition to the MM manual.

I had it working on the opener without the rolling codes, but now since we moved we have the rolling codes and no workeee. I am sure it's something I am doing wrong...

Some types of openers aren't compatible. I couldn't get mine to work even with the help of my Ford guy.:(

I was wondering, can it be programmed for devices other than garage door openers? I was going to try and see if I can make it work for my wife's remote start on her car, that way I can start her car as I pull away in the mornings.

I figured it out...the smart button on the door opener was well hidden...Got both doors programmed in less than 5 minutes after I figured out the trick.

I love this feature, it's a lot harder to loose the overhead console! Now I need a 3 door garage to use ALL the buttons.

Does the car maximize your opening range? I figured the battery powered opener would have less power/consistant power than my MM does.

Anyone understand that logic? or have I lost my mind?

Why, yes they can be programmed for other things. If you use X10 home automation gizmos you can teach your console buttons to speak X10. I had Blue Thunder set up to turn on a couple lights in the front room of the house for those occaisions when we come home after dark and didn't leave any lights on.

As far as remote start, I dunno. Maybe one of our geekier members has tried this.

My door opener has the rolling codes. Had my wife help me and it works like a charm. I just followed the instructions in the manual.

I programmed mine to two differant gates at places where I lived so I would say maybe remember though the remote start is a rolling code like some garage doors so it may not work try it and see what happens. I programed mine to a neighber one time and used to screw with him sometimes stopped after awhile though started to feel bad for him lol
