View Full Version : blower control module
OK, it's my turn to have the climate control fan quit working. After searching for and reading the posts about this problem I have decided to purchase a fan control module and install it at home.
I got the old one loose OK but the weather has turned sour so I'll let Jason, my middle son, the Honda Mech, finish changing it out this weekend after the rain.
Looks like he will have to take off one maybe two heater hoses and a small module on the wiper shroud. Don't know what's it called, but it's round, black and has several connections.
Going to buy the part tomorrow. Better to pay him and keep it in the family.

Pat

you need strong fingers but you can get it by the hoses without alot of fuss....

^^+1. no need to take those hoses off, just wear gloves or you'll bust some knuckles

+2, you dont have to take the hoses off, but you sure will think about it right before it finally comes out.... its about 4 inches deep, thats the problem getting it out of the blower housing area and past the hoses enough to turn it and get it up over the back corner of the cam.
There is a bracket right by the wiper cowl that is holding on -I dont remeber what it is now- but its just 2 gold colored 10MM nuts and when thats out of the way it gives you better access.
Mine costed about $50 at the local Ford dealer.
It took me about 30 mins. Just make sure you have a couple small extensions and a swivel to get down to the 2 bolts of the BCM.

my daughter did mine, no problem, my hands are too big to fit.
Thanks guys, I'm relieved to hear that the heater hoses don't have to come off.
Regards,
OK, my son Jason, the Honda Mech, replaced the Blower control module today.
Took him about half an hour. He found it easier to take off the heater hoses and the module that sits on the sill above the heater hoses. Cost of part $65.00, labor $40.00, satisfaction guaranteed.
System works great.
Looks like this part fixes almost all the blower inop issues.

Gordon;
Oh yea, Jason has been the man with my Marauder since I bought it in 04. He is well versed in the coolant air pocket issue. I'm going to miss him cause he's headed for Afghanistan early next year.
