Well, you know how you get to know every little sound in your car that no one else can hear and everyone says your crazy??? I had that! I light ticking noise that started a couple of months ago. I kept aware of it and questioned wether I was just going nutty. Well, after I got rid of the last of my cats, it has gotten very noticeable and louder day by day! No one else hears it of course! I KNOW when I can hear valves and lifters tapping, that's the sound! Now I'm getting really concerned. I'm thinking bent valve, valve guide, etc. Time for CT/CLT to see if their seating properly at least. For the hell of it, I pull the plugs on the right bank, where the noise is coming from, and lo and behold! Number 3 plug was just about out of the hole! Hmmmm.... Please be the only problem! Tighten it, put coils back in, coil cover, fire her up... Purrrrrr... Yippeeee!

Interesting. Had you recently changed plugs?

Yup, a few months ago. I tightened them by hand and am usually spot on. I also added the N2O which might have made a minor prob bigger.

Another benefit of Granatelli connectors is your plugs CANNOT back out on ya!!!:bows::banana:

Really. Never knew that! Is it more downward pressure on the plug? It's funny, without any cats, I can hear more noises, but, I'm definitely more respectful of the additional pressures of n2o in my chambers! I still can't believe I had a plug backing out on me! I'm sooooo thankful that was it though!

I've had a ticking noise like that since I got the car almost a year and a half ago, sounds like it's coming from either the second or third cylinder from the front of the car on the passenger side. I'm afraid it's something like a valve sticking. :( Good news, I guess, is that it hasn't gotten any louder in this time span. Only thing that's done that is my exhaust. :D

the GMS connectors are a "solid" wire vs a spring, they are very stiff and dont really flex

Ahhhh... I may do a ct anyway. I need piece of mind. You have to figure, for 127k, it was stock and I,ve been making her run marathons after she sat eating twinkies, hohos, ringdings and watching Oprah all day for years.

That's two MM's that I know of that have had this happen Blackened 300A was the other. Is there a specific reason the plugs back out? I have never heard of this before getting the MM. I've heard of Top Fuelers launching plugs into the upper atmosphere but hey their 8000hp

Like Dave said.....the solid connectors won't let a plug unscrew itself!!!:shake:
I've never had a loose plug but I suppose it would make a noise similar to an exhaust leak??

my ticking noise like this never went away or got louder for almost 6 months... brought it in to 2 mechanics and both said the car was fine. a week later the motor blew up. Bent 2 rods, spun the bearing and torqued the block. Apparently the crank had been installed wrong. my car was stock.
Glad you fixed your problem early!

With aluminum heads the plug threads can be easily stripped. I torque wrench could be the answer. When I changed my plugs I just snuged them down with caution. Also when useing anti seize on threads it will change the torque rate.
