My 03' MM is rather basic with hardly any mods, with the exception of
SS inserts, tinted windows and upgraded radio.
Would a K&N cold air intake be a good improvement to the engine and is
it easy to install?...................... BTW, any clue on where best to get
them and what might they cost would be helpful.....................Th anks

I can't speak about the K&N cause I've never had one but I have a JLT intake and it's work just fine for me plus it's cheaper and JLT is a vendor here.
Here is the link to their site

K&Ns are great. jlts are made from pvc, (yes the kind from homedepot) but will gain you the exact same numbers as a k&N and they are like half the money. my conclusion:
if you want a factory look and money isnt a problem go with the k&n
if you dont really care how it looks, not that it looks bad, go with the jlt, plus its cheaper

JLT is painted to match your car, and i believe has a bigger filter... On the other hand, its a bigger pain in the ass to put together...
I would really suggest getting a tune first, the intake works best with a tune, by itself it doesn't do much on the low and mid range

When I installed my K&N, I didn't notice any difference in performance. However, it has a CARB number so its California Smog Legal.

IMO, a tune is THE first mod that should be done to any stock Marauder.

Start w/a tune and 4.10s, then look into the intake. W/4.10s and a tune the car feels like it should have from the factory. Just no prolonged high speed jaunts until you get a better driveshaft or you will be replacing your tailshaft seal.

Ok, forgive my ignorance here, but when U say "tune" you mean what
exactly???..............I'm ruling out that it's not a tune-up! lol

essentially re flashing the computer with a different file that has different performance parameters.

+1 to the tune first, so much can be had with a reflash of the cpu that just can't come in the one-shot add-on intake arm and filter. Honestly not many of the simple and cheap bolt-ons are particularly effective without tuning adjustments, modifying the exhaust will pretty much have the result as the intake without a tune.

+1 intake & tune.
I got a deal on a used K&N and love it. I wouldn't have paid full price for the K&N, though. I would have bought a JLT...

K&N is better than the JLT IMHO - they tested it for a 17HP gain over a factory marauder. It definately has teeth. The K&N FIPK kit is discontinued so I'd hurry and get one, I think it has a better heat shield too.

We love our K&N. Took about an hour to install. Read the directions the night before you install and be prepared for doing a little interpreting while doing the install as the directions are good not great. Tune will be a good thing to get too.

You can't go wrong with the JLT.

K&N install for me, without directions, was less than 30 minutes.

I've got a PHP CAI installed on the Bluesmobile and am very pleased with it.

I've been running my JLT without a heat shield since the day I got it 2-3 years ago. One day I'll make something for it.

That's why you're running 13's :D

13's is cause of a Zack tune, PI 3500 converter and 16" drag radials.
14.19 to 13.72, just wait and see when the 4.10s hit the track.
