I know I posting allot of question on here that do no pertain the actual car that this site was made for but I have yet to have my account activated at Crownvic.net and the people here seem to have a better attitude and knowledge.
Information on the car,
1998 Grand Marquis precision trac
1998 Mustang GT swap (Same 2v engine I know)
Non lsd differential
Modifications list
K&N Intake
MM MAF
P71 Or MM dual exhaust W/ X pipe
J-Mod
Power programmer transmission upgrade
Power programmer update for intake and exhaust upgrades.
Would just this listed make have better acceleration and over all performance?
Most people here start with intake, tune and gears.

3.23,3.55,or 3.73 gears in the rear end along with posi will help .
If you can swap in a PI motor in place of your non PI that'll help a bunch,or,save your $ and pick up a used MM,There are some decent one up for sale fairly cheap lately and a good high mileage one might be in the price you range you can afford after selling the GM.If properly cared for there seems to be no reason a MM can't make it to the 200,000 mile mark or beyond without major repairs or needing a rebuild.
My thinking is you can start with a slug,(no offense, but a 98 GM ain't in the same league as a MM),and shovel money into it trying to make it decently fast or you can start with a well used MM that's already fast and improve it's performance as you accumulate some $.

K&N Intake
No, Marauder style airbox... K&N FIPK is a waste unless your going for looks, the MM airbox with a K&N drop in is a proven power adder for 2v's, which is why 04+ CVPI's come with a marauder style airbox and 80mm maf
MM MAF
Yes
P71 Or MM dual exhaust W/ X pipe
No, thats just a waste... Find a shop to do a cheap 2.5" cat back exhaust. Unless your really on a budget and have a stock single with a Y pipe, then just find a P71 exhaust H pipe back and put it on your car. The only difference between a marauder exhaust and a P71 is the shiny exhaust tips and maybe the mufflers.
J-Mod
Yes
Power programmer transmission upgrade
Yes
Power programmer update for intake and exhaust upgrades.
Yes, if you do a 80MM MAF with anything, you will HAVE TO get a retune, or your car will be running lean. Talk to lonnie @ Blue oval chips, he can set you up with a tune for firmer shifts and the 80mm maf.
Would just this listed make have better acceleration and over all performance?
Yes it would, but you should also get a set of 3.73 gears atleast.. I'm sure your car has 2.73's right now.
Look for a set of PI heads and PI intake to put on your car, the heads will offer not only more flow, but a compression bump (And you'll need to run atleast 91) giving more power.
I cant remember, do 1998's still use a speedo gear? either way, you will have to fix the speedometer/odometer for the gear swap...

I'm not exactly sure what the question is? Do you have a Marauder and want to put the parts from the Mustang on it??

How is a j mod going to help a nearly stock 2v engine? I'm not even sure how its necessary for mild 4v engines.

I am not looking for an all out speed demon, Or a hot rod of any type. I am just looking to make my every day/family car a little more fun to drive. Don't get me wrong I love MM but it's just not in my budget or time frame to get one right now.
In my introduction to the site I included that my "Hot rod" or weekend warrior is an import and for not suits my need of speed.
Maybe come spring time I will sell both of them and find a MM to fit my needs but for now the GM is just for the family.

junk MM are easy to come by in my area.. And I haven't seen any going on any sites lately but I will keep my eyes open and thanks for the tip to save some $$$. Cause in no way am I really going for looks. Just don't want any home depot haha

I am not really on a budget but in the end this is just my family car.. Yes it does only have the single exhaust with the Y into one back. I'm not looking for that loud tone but only for a little better breathing. This is why I thought an OE MM or P71 dual system would suit my needs.

Where would I find an 80mm MAF?

Im not looking for it to help the engine but help the slopy, slipping, nasty automatic shifting.

Which it will, quite nicely.
I did it on my N/A 2V Grand Marquis and never regretted it, not even for a second. It was the first mod I did.

Exactly, And for the inexpensive price of 70ish $$ isn't bad either:beer:

He has a 98 grand marquis with a NPI 2v

the Jmod not only helps the 4R70/75W last longer, but it firms the shifts nicely and safely, not with any stupid shift kits or line pressure adjustments...
Marauders come with the 80MM MAF, often times if you find the box, you'll find the MAF.
As far as your exhaust, make sure you atleast cut the two rear cats off and put on some high flow cats to replace the first set, and some better mufflers... that'll keep your car breathing fine w/o going overkill

Thanks for the tips on the MAF, Now all I have to do it find a MM haha.
Yes, that is my plan.
To find a MM or P71 dual exhaust system, Cut out all four cats and replace them with 2 Magnaflow high flow cats. I think this will give me the tone I am looking for along with allowing the exhaust to flow a little more freely then stock.

Keep the resonator.. weights i guess they are... the black things clamped on the pipe, they are black cylinders basically... They help to cut down on drone and alot of people dont put em on if they do a new exhaust... So if you take a P71 or MM exhaust (A MM exhaust probably wont be as nasty as a P71 one) the make sure you keep those things...
The exhaust SHOULD fit fine, I know i have a friend that put a 98-02 setup from walker on his 06, and it fit fine for the most part. you may have to make tweaks though. HPP's came with duals as well so that would bolt right up gauranteed...

Thank you for that info, I will make sure they are reinstalled with the new exhaust.
